Special Edition: Canadian Government Slashes Backlog
MARCH, 2012
BREAKING NEWS
see how tough they are being in handling backlog for federal applications of skilled workers...really painful for those who has been waiting for PR for so many years......................

Yes, this a very sad news. But, for long time they were just delaying the process of application before Feb 27, 2008. Ex:
Average processing time is 18-20 months.

Visa Office Processing Times IN MONTHS
(based on a complete application package)
Applications received BEFORE February 27, 2008 Applications received BETWEEN November 28, 2008 and June 25, 2010
Beijing - China 57 20
Colombo - Sri Lanka 68 21
Hong Kong - China 62 21
Islamabad - Pakistan 88 27
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia 55 19
Manila - Philippines 82 18
New Delhi - India 93 18
Seoul - South Korea 60 21
Singapore - Singapore 74 19
Sydney - Australia 56 19
Tokyo - Japan 68 17

Hence, may be thay don't want those people who are before 2008. :-) Actually, at that time rule was very easy. and most of the applicants posses the skill in which canada doesn't have skill shortage.

No definitely apply through PGPM. You will get 12 points. As it will be treated as Business management( Gestion de commerces). You will be group 1. and your NOC will be equivalent to training area.

Hi hec006,

But the my PGPM is a one year program, I am not able to spot the equivalent degree in the training list..The business management programs are showing (DCS 3years) in their list..

Today I read a very bad news related to new immigrants, I would like to share with you guys.

If it is one year program, then it will be not treated as Master degree ( In quebec master degree is obtained after 18years full time study). Your bachelor and master degree is not in same domain.. For your bachelor degree you will get points for AOT= 6 points.( group 2), as you have exp at least 1 year in last 5 year. For education, you will get 10 point.

So if i need to apply. I have only option in Group 2. I prefer applying with my PGPM as have acquired it 3 years ago and presently working in the same domain..Correct me if i am wrong ??

FYI.. i have not changed domain, even after i did my PGPM i am in mechanical engineering (manufacturing) field only..all my 8 years of experience is in Manufacturing domain..does this give any chance for group 1 ??

Please give all the details in application form. You need not to mention through which you are applying. But, in intended work area is relevant to PGPM. They will consider you in which you score best points. Apply ASAP. After that do your analysis. :-)

Mechanical is in Grp 2. Management is in Grp 1.

he cant apply as AOT -12 (Group-1) beacuse degree equivalent issue and you must submit w.r.t Grp- AOT-6 other wise you will not get point..... Please consult with Senior Member plzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......Stilhop, Shah and others .. they will guide better and try to enrolled in French language as early as possible, other wise you would in trouble then ......... beacuse you have to complete 49 points

hi nevillek,
I agree with hec006. Dont waste your time running behind whims of consultants. It will costs you money which you already did, and time, which you can save by doing it by yourself. Forget now about the money you paid, because I never seen any agent refunding money to a person, if he doesnt want to seek consultant's support and wishes to do his application by himself.

Instead do it yourself and take help of forum members here.
Also keep in mind the recent cap introduced by quebec.
During last year 2011 only, they have received approx 60000 applications for qsw, so if you are in group 2, it is very likely that the proposed quota of 14300 will be fille in very quickly even before march 2013.

Hello nevillek,

thanks for raising the question. In first view, it is very contradictory issue. M.COM/B.COM study all the things such as Accounting, Finance etc. But, So it may be under Finance or Accounting Category. But, as B.Com/M.Com contains mostly accounting part, as per Quebec equivalent education system, B.COM/M.COM falls under category 2 and gets 6 points for AOT.

You can find the same in Training list category pdf. ( It is mentioned as accounting ( DCS-3years)).

You have to apply very fast. Don't worry friend. Don't go for consultancy. they will make it delayed. Go by your self. it wil be within 10 days. There is still time to fill the quota. Here, we all are here to help you. Just gather all the docs, fill the application and send to them ASAP.

There is the probability to implement the training wise cap in near future. then it will be again very tough.

Good Luck...

You are welcome. Apply ASAP. Try to learn French to the extent of your effort. If you have claimed marks in French and English try to get DELF and IELTS cert as fast as you can. Try to remember that your master degree 1 year acquired after 17 years will not put you in Grp 1 category and will not give you master degree education point, bcoz your Bachelor is in Mechanical and not in business management. So u have to apply throgh your bachelor degree which is in Grp 2.

Can you please explain degree equivalency...

Please review all the posts and comment after that...

not automatically.
if you get married after getting the CSQ, its a long drawn affair. you have to return the csq, change the application to include the new spouse. then you will be evaluated again on the basis of the new marital status. married applicants have a different cutoff etc.
