Dear All,,

I am new to this quebec forum. I have already applied under FSW1- 0231 NOC, which seems needed a huge time to process.

SO i planned to apply under QSW and ask devid cochen to be my lawer. Just to know,,

Am i eligible to apply for both FSW1 and QSW process at the same time ?

Can i move after 6 months to ontario to be setteled there?

for french is it manditory for TEF exam? as Devid cochen said (Applicants applying under the Quebec Skilled Worker category should be willing/able to gain a HIGH BEGINNER level of proficiency in the French language - understanding and speaking (not reading or writing).)

Kindly advice seniors. plssssssssss
Dear Sazzadkw,

As far as I know if you have already started the application for the FSW you should in no way start another application. And another thing is that if you have started the FSW process it will not take longer than it will take the QSW which has two parts the first one where you should take the CSQ and the second one where you should go through the federal process (which takes as long as the FSW process)

And yes, to be able to get accepted more easily by Quebec Province you should at least have a basic knowledge of French and if you are not from a French speaking country, of you have not finished any studies in French then you should prove it by presenting a certificate (TEF or TEF-aq(which is easier).

As per your moving to Ontario after 6 months it is up to you to decide but during the QSW process you will have to sign a paper stating that you intend to live and work in Quebec.

Hope I have helped you in some way.

Regards.

Vibez_well & Geribubaboy, your thoughts on my post please?
i dont think i've anything new to add on this ! every aspect of this 'moving abroad' phenomenon has been discussed & debated in a lot of threads.

yes, there are a lot of risks. i've read about project managers working as waiters, MBBS docs working as bus drivers. there was even an old joke that canada cabs were the best place to have a heart attack. know why ? high probability that ur cabbie would be an ex doc from south asia !

most probably, you will be flipping burger patties for a year after you land...

jokes apart, the "why" has the same old reasons - better 'quality of life' kindof encapsulates all answers dont u think.. while my country has a lot of good about it, i see of a lot better things outside.

and i dont care about the weather -yeah it gets really crazy sometimes. but i've lived in the nordics for a while at minus 17°C and also in the middle east at 40-45°C. you get used to anything after a while.

you pay tax here and you pay higher tax in Canada - but the kind of returns (benefits) that you get back - compare that and i think the argument tilts a lot towards maple leaves and snow, lol. ;D

Well said Vibez_well,

@ Quebe_2012

We all know the risks and we are all aware that maybe we will not get what we are expecting but it is better to try than not try at all.

Good Luck to all who try to get the best in their lives.

Hi Quebec2012,

Why am saying its not a right forum because people who have applied or decided to apply will join this forum and you will hear only half part of the story offcourse the good part :).

what i suggest is look for some online blogs about quebec u may get a fair idea and prolly some Quebec Chat rooms too.

When you says Feedback from people who have landed

People from the time they applied they visit this site more than twice a day upto a year or two. Once they land they get busy with their job hunt and settling down process so you cant expect much from those people.

This is my point of View
No Offense

Good Luck/ Bonne chance

Thanks Thomas, thats exactly what I am trying to do here, what is it that people thought/thinking of before applying - I too am about to apply, and I am keen to understand the job scenario, risks of unemployedness, cost of living and associated savings, and how many of us know how much. OURS AND OUR KIDS' FUTURE DEPENDS ON THAT!

Unfortunately, as I read on an earlier post, we do not have any/many feedback at all from people who have landed. So we do not get to know how smooth sailing (or not) has it been, and what's there in store for us - good, bad, ugly.

That's the reason why I wanted to dig deeper, so that we are mentally prepared for the challenges, if any. Do let me know if you still think its unjustified to discuss it here - will move on then.

Regards,

Hello experts,

i wanna ask about the questions which have no answer according to my situation, should i leave it blank??
and what about question 7, should i only fill in the last 10 years exactly ?
how to fill 8.1??
should the job task be mentioned according to Canadian category?

Hey guys,
I saw some posts from vibez, quebec_2012,geribubaboy and thomas!I don't know when this topic started(I searched and could not find). I badly wanted to post here.

I think it is a good idea to discuss pros and cons of moving to canada(and Quebec),depsite the fact that most of us have sent our application or made a decision to send it out in a few days. This wil lallow us to stay informed and plan for the worst.

I am sure there are postives and negatives of moving to a new country. I have done this in my life and it took me 2 years to settle down and get accustomed to things in a new country. relocation to a new country is always stressful. But it is a very satisying process as well.

About the winters, trust me guys, it won't be that bad.you will be fine in the second winter. The first winter might feel cold, but all homes, apartments, trains, buses, offices etc will have heaters..so the actual cold is only for those few minutes from the train station to ur home or a walk across the road etc. By the way, does anyone know how cold it can get in Quebec? I think British vancouver is a little warmer as compared to the eastern coast of canada.

The most important concern, according to me , is finding jobs. This is going to be tricky and stressful. We hear a lot of stories about people doing un-skilled jobs despite their education and work experience. But, I would like to think positive and say that there are many many others who get jobs similar to thosep erformed in their home country but we never get to hear such news.
I personally know 2 friends. Those friends did not move to Quebec though, they had applied through the federal process and moved to alberta and toronto respectively.

@Vibez - your jokes on heartattack in a cab was nice..haha..
But, again, we know ourselves and our jobs best. so do the search religiiously upon landing, or even a few weeks before landing. In quebec, an added stress fo those of us who are still learning the language is the french language. Jobs might expect its emplyees to be fluent in french. This is my opinion, and this factor might not be there for a lot of you since you might be fluent in french.

The most important thing is when we should support each other during and after the landing, giving relevant information. This is a very important step.

I would love to hear more great things about canada(and the bad things, every country has its bad things) so that we can have a mature and contructive discussion here :)
