If you were to get married now (congratulations ), your wife will need to get a CSQ first before applying for a PR visa.
This could take some time.

Another resort is to land in Quebec then try to sponsor her later on.
Well, I have not said it could take little time. Just letting you know the options you have.

Please note that you'll have to finalise your landing process within the period of validity of your PR visa, which is normally 12 months.

I just wanted to add that your domain (nursing) is well in demand, so you could get through the process fast.

1. how long is the CSQ application? will there be an interview?
- It may vary from one case to another. Anyways, HK office processing time is really short.
Normally you'll need to pass an interview, to check your French & your ability to adapt life there (something you got to prepare for).

2. shall i send police clearance together with the application?
- No, you don't have to send it with your initial application for CSQ.
Later on, in the federal process stage you'll have to submit one along your PR visa application.

3. is bank certificate enough as a proof of funds?
- Well, yes. It's just o prove the sum of funds you'll mention in one of the forms.

4. as a holder of A1(basic) what should i tick in the application form...
- Set your level as "basic" (1-4)

They were actually my last resort because it was in the middle of term time I couldn't enrol on a proper college for my French. However, it was worth it. Oh and classes were conducted in a very small group (4 persons at least).. I sound like an advertiser now. rofl. Imho, I suggest taking a proper French course. It was more of a time constraint for me since I had already submitted my initial files and I had no knowledge/history of the French language whatsoever. I was surprised myself that I was able to go from French abc's to basic conversational French in 4 months! I did it, so everyone who's worried about their French, worry no more.. All the best!

Cool! yeah like everyone is saying first land in Quebec then travel home and legally marry your partner and set the ball rolling. Have a friend in Montreal who landed in January this year, he and his girlfriend were both here in the UK and she decided to give this QSW a go, she got her PR and did the same, think everything took about 10 months, all the best.

What's your profession by the way, and were in the UK are you?

thanks @ shersta for the reply... with regards to my training i thought i will have a score of 16 pts for areas of training (nursing) and 12points for my master?? anyway if you are quite sure for this... do u think 55 points is enough to apply for CSQ? i tried to contact a representative but then i decided to apply on my own to save my money... LOL

can u pls share me the link for the official scoring for areas of training...with regards to your question @ shersta i havent taken any exams yet.. i will only send my diploma/certificate for A1 from our university...thanks

I got an appraisal from a lawyer who told me that I was well suited to apply for the Quebec program even though my French proficiency is nil! Is it worth doing this, is it quicker than the normal Federal Skilled application?

Got a few probs with my NMC application as well that is why I decided to go home as it was not giving me any good. I am a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines.

Hi! Another Quebec PR applicant here. I'm very pleased to know that we are all on the same boat.


Visa office: (London)
Submitted my Requirements: March '10
First Interview Invitation: July '10 (I requested that this interview be moved as I wasn't very confident about my French)
Interview Rescheduled on (Paris): September '10 - Got my CSQ
Forwarded CSQ and Background Security check : November '10
Received Client Number and Medical Forms: April '11

Current Status: Medical Results were already received and I am waiting for the next step which I believe is the immigration people telling me to submit my passport and other requirements.

Btw, I am a registered nurse.

I would also appreciate if someone could have a glance at another thread I made for some of my concerns. Thank you..

Has this happened to any of you?yeah it does happened to me but it was resolved within a month.during those period, the information i usually get is,There is no information for the details u provided until it started showing what i have now which is 'We started processing ur application on November 23rd.' but u should try to send them an enquiry and state ur problem,it probably might b due to neglect.cos am sure ur VO must av sent it. also do an e-mail to ur Visa office and explain to them I am really worried because I spent a year for the QSC and now it's almost 6 months and I have not yet received the MR. my friend, i also av been waiting for this medical stuff for over 7months now.i guess our file are the oldest in this federal game

Lol. I guess my luck wasn't really there. It's glad I went back to spend time with my family before facing new challenges in Canada.

It took London VO 6-7 months (I forwarded my CSQ and security checks to VO on October '10) to tell me to get my medical exams and before I got the file number. They got heavy backlogs December-January I forgot the reason why, at least that's what my friend told me. You're still in the game. All the best!
