I have gotten married and received my AOR recently (actually dated 2 weeks ago but I didn't get an email, so just got the post now..and I'm running out of time...only have 2-3 days to complete everything)
I have a few questions:

My original marriage certificate is in arabic from UAE courts, so should I attest the original arabic by ministry of justice and then ministry of foreign affairs, and then re-attest a copy of it from ministry of foreign affairs, and then also attest the english certificate from both these departments as well? (thats a lot of attestations for each)

Secondly, my husband has done 2 years vocational training in Aeoronautical Engineering...but they only give points for 4 year bachelor, so do I leave his AOT blank in the form?

Thanks a lot for the help at the earliest possible...
Actually your husband will push you down with points...you have to work so hard because he gets only AGE points and French if possible.
you must go to interview with minimum 62
what is your profession?
but you can work on that, now updating it will delay process 6 months I think.
they are interviewing Feb 2011 applicants. you still have about 2 years at least waiting for interview.
it passes so quickly.

Oh you worked as fitness coach, I guess you must have Adonis's physical shape! ;D are you married? :D
I am afraid Ivy League diploma does not even mean much in North America. My colleague in call centre has done MSC at Boston college in environmental studies and has spent 6 years working in the centre. He is canadian citizen. and in former socialist countries diplomas mean even less because people think that we got our degrees as they get theirs - by buying at bazaars. In my opinion, university education does not prepare for jobs and if I was employer I would prefer a vocational school graduate with years of experience over fresh university graduate. Saying this as a person who just finished PhD at the world's 50th best university and cannot find even one marketable skill to put on CV, except running useless statistical tests with enormous probability of error on data that was randomly compiled by idle government officials. In Quebec a graduate of 1-year vocational school gets job immediately after final internship. A graduate of university begs for jobs for years. Nevertheless, professors receive ridiculously high salaries starting at 80 000 CAD. It seems university education exists just to fund a few lucky individuals who were lucky enough to penetrate the system via their supervisors.
I've been doing boxing since 14 so I'm pretty good at it. And also got a second place in a regional cup once when I was 21. So I trained some people as a private coach while finishing my second degree part-time before coming to US. ;D If you're born in such countries as mine you can't do ballet ;) Actually, I can imagine that if I for example lived in the US from let's say high school period I could have easily done athletic career without a need for grad school.
Still unmarried cause I probably don't need to or just haven't met someone special yet ;) What about you Ketevan?
I agree with everything that you wrote. Just with a small remark, I feel that I obtained invaluable skills in research in the US that are in my resume. And you can't buy them. No way. In my country there will be no such thing in probably 20-30 years cause we're going down deeply. People respect only strength and the fact if you have powerful relatives/connections ;) If you tell that you did boxing you're the man, and nobody cares if you did a research in nanoparticles :D Everyone will just laugh. Educated people with degrees end up trading with cloth/underwear in the marketplace.

Today is my 29th birthday and I am not any closer to getting married than when I was a primary school girl :D
As you are doing pure science, I guess you indeed got invaluable skills. As for me, I was doing social science - economics - which for me is simply the religion of capitalists like marxism was the religion of communists, based on unrealistic assumptions and lacking any scientific concept.
I do not know what is worse - trading clothes in market or working in call centres and being shouted/sweared at on a daily basis 8)

You're right. New rules are helpful for those who evaluated the files in terms of its ambiguity. Now, it's not that obvious and transparent.
NOT at all .... i am still confused with my points calculation!
-- B.SC business administration 4 years = 10
-- Area Of Training is in IT services and management = 6
-- 2+ yrs experience = 8
-- 33 yrs old = 16
-- IELTS: 6.5/ 5.5/ 6.5/ 7.0 = 5
-- TCFaQ: B1 / B1 = 0
-- single = 0
Total 45 without french, is this calculation correct ??? and if i could get B2 only in speaking (TCFaQ)=5, can i apply then?

all french degrees are not covered under ARM. You can find the list mentioned in the link given below:

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/fr/arm/Liste-professions-ARM.pdf
Think I should be a little clearer, You are correct in mentioning the ARM for Professional Qualifications. However I have read but I cannot find the thing now that Education Qualifications are Mutually Recognised. I am of course making the difference between Professional Training Qualifications and Acedemic qualifications and yes there is a slight difference. From what I understand is that ARM covers professional qualifications when the end goal is to excersice a certain profession, nurse for example. The other covers those who wish to continue in Education, (Le baccalauréat français et le diplôme d’études collégiales québécois (DEC) sont reconnus réciproquement comme donnant accès au 1er cycle d’études supérieures au Québec et en France, dans le respect des conditions d’admission propres à chaque pays. ») The French Bac and the DEC are mutually recognised as giving access to the 1st Cycle higher education in France and Québec, in the respect of the admission policies of each country.

Admittedly it is a very complicated subject and is always open to interpretation as with all thigs governemental!!! I suppose at the end of the day it all depends on the Immigration Officer who looks at the file and his or her attitude.
