To the glory of the God, my family and I had a safe trip to Montreal, Canada on the 28th of September, 2012. Below is the gist of the landing experience.

After landing, scaling through the immigrations was easy after declaring the items in our baggage and we were referred to see the Canadian Boarder Services after picking our baggage which was intact. There were other landed immigrants so it took some time to get to our turn. We were asked whether we would be bringing in other stuff later and we answered no, we were asked to updated our address as soon as we have one for the processing of the PR cards, we were given details for other service we would need to contact for our integration process and also advised on the importance of the safe keeping of our COPR forms. There was no further check of our baggage & POF which was only declared, the officer advised that it is better to withdraw from ATM outside the airport because the withdrawal amount in the airport has been pegged to about only $300. The whole process took about 2 and half hours.

Right from the airport, picking a taxi was with a queuing system and we were gotten a van because of our plenty baggage and off we went to a hotel. We were in the hotel for two days and with the assistance of a landed senior in the person of Francomaj (simply a fantastic person) we were able to secure an apartment by Sunday (Gods favor) and moved in immediately.

Monday, we registered for our SIN and Medical Insurance (the MI was treated as having landed the whole of September, hence we have only 2 months waiting period, God's favor I guess), we were also able to open bank accounts. Tuesday, continued with other registrations as part of the integration process and getting things to get us well settled in the new apartment.

The Canadian experience has been really great, the weather is still very ok, we even had some periods of sunshine yesterday, the system works very well with the metro, buses and the general transportations system, one can easily find his way around with a map.

I'm currently playing catch up with limited internet access (currently working on having one at home), hence my congrats goes to all those that have had one form of update or the other, for all those still expecting one form of update or the other, God will make it happen soonest.

Cheers

Rizxan_raw: just some friendly advice - one does not need an immigration consultant for the applying for the CSQ or at the federal level. They charge an exuberant amount of money for simply putting documents together that you can only provide for them (as well as acting as a courier). They cannot do anything else really. From what I can see your English is great so, following the instructions given should be fine for you.
That's just my personal belief. Nevertheless, all the best!

Hi there guys,

I´m planning to apply for my CSQ shortly. However I´ve run into an issue with certified copies of my university transcripts. Bottom line is, that I can´t get any instituion of my country to certify them. My question is if notarized copies will do fine? Did anyone knows for you sure if notarized copies of studies (transcripts, university diploma, etc) are accepted?

For my information, he must be the main applicant, teach him some french so he can get A1 level, you can get 6 points full french.

you have very good chance,

Its not sure they will open again on january 2013, I am sure they will not, because they still have a lot pending applications in federal part.
Thanks lemans207 for your answer.

I am thinking another option for us. Can I apply to 3e cycle for a new study then my husband can have work permit and apply for PR onshore. Do you think which one is better? It should note that it is not easy to apply for student visa for my family from my country while we have both PhD degrees.

hello guys,
i am very new to this site but i have been reading threads on here. i am interested in moving over to Quebec next year
after my studies here in manchester.
please i have a few question if anybody will be kind enough to give me some professional answers, i will be highly grateful.
i have a Bsc in accounting obtained in 2005. i wish to claim points for experience but my problem is that
i worked for about 3years back in my country as an accountant but my company normally don't pay
tax for their employees so i don't know how to obtain a proof of income tax. please is there an altternative to that?
meanwhile am talking about Nigeria.
2. i want to know where am suppose to send my documents when they are ready as i reside in manchester (UK)?
3. Is there any particular period selected for submission, if yes when is that for Uk residents?
4. am I suppose to send proof of financial capability (statement of account) in this my first submission?
5. like i said i live in manchester, is there anyone on this blog who knows where i can register for french lesson which the price is cheap
in manchester. thanks in advance guys

yes.

If already in Quebec..gather all your transcripts, then take them to a CERTIFIED notary in Quebec (http://www.redsealnotary.com/)- they will photocopy them, stamp the photocopies and sign them as certified.
