You are just going through cultural shock right now which is normal. But keep in mind the services that you have, the quality of life (now and in the future). UAE might be "more developed" as more money if that is your criteria, but for how long you still be there ??
some people advice me to take passport then go to UAE

Shabeb bade elkon shaghli, el passport el canadi ma byeswa fijli. badon visa to uae b2admo 3laya w byedfa3o 280$. bdal fi mashekil with Canada.

I lived 20 years in gulf, and I can continue the rest of my life there and its safe more than Canada, at least when you walk at street, no drugs and drunk people.

I am not shocked of culture because in Dubai culture is much worst than here.

I am discussing/comparing if you can work in Dubai and earn lot of money and drive Porsche why you want to stay in Canada and pay taxes and go in bus and metro or pay 300$/month car insurance in Ontario.

I didn't come to take passport and leave. that's why I am leaving without passport and no need to come back.

el jeye mn lebnen jobless or earn 1000$ will enjoy here,

if you dont see the benefits of being in canada or you choose you dont want to. well ya better to go back UAE.

anyway Good luck..

PS: Interests differ between pple so if your dream is to drive porsche and amass money.. Canada is not for you.. actually neither europe or USA.

And btw i used to get paid 3500$ in beirut as an architect. and guess what even if im paying now taxes i feel im appreciated. THANK GOD FOR THE BUS AND THE METRO.. thats a true living city..

Again Lemans good luck with your life.

LOL.

who is providing you with all these wrong info about Ontario?
From where did you get the 300$/month car insurance?
I'm an Ontario resident and I'm paying 80$/month for the car insurance which decreases every year.
as for taxes, you'll get used to it, give it time.
The highest taxes are paid by people residing in Quebec and working in Ontario.

All the respect Allinec.

You are right, going to Canada is about the long term.

I do not mind paying taxes when at least i am getting back services from the government and i am living in a safe and secure society. At least when you retire you are paid back until the end.

Anyways one can get the passport and later return to work abroad too if he wants. It is not all about money. When you work a couple of years in Canada, later you may decide to return abroad.

For me happiness is a priority and after that comes money.

i wonder why is everyone happy in canada except lemans!!!
i'm in montreal since few months and very happy and satisfied with my family !! though i have no relatives or close friends here.
anyway everyone has his priorities and concerns in life.
good luck to u all , have a happy week :)

Thats what cultural shock means.. different way of living. (Not talking about race and shit like that).

Anyway alot of people cant do the move, not only lemans. A friend of my husband lasted 2 years but he didnt like it so he came back. as yo said its all about priorities, and goals..

GOOD luck to Lemans and i hope he will be happy with any decision he makes.. at the end we are all looking for that might be in canada, usa, Europe, even Beirut.

Cheers to all and have a nice day.

During the year, you will in fact have taxes deducted as appropriate where you work, Ontario in this case.

However, at the end of the year, you will file tax returns as a Quebec resident. That means filing both a Federal and a Provincial return(revenue Canada and Revenue Quebec). You get credits towards your Quebec taxes on your federal return, so what usually happens is that you end up with a big refund from Canada, and bill owing for Quebec.

I reside and work in Ottawa, so I only have 1 income tax to file before April 30 of each year.

Some people think that residing in Gatineau (cheap day care, cheap rent, minimum wage 10.35$...) and working in Ottawa (minimum wage 11$) is very helpful, but it's not since you'll be filing federal and provincial taxes.

with 2 incomes it might be helpful yes.

As for the benefits, I won't rely much on the healthcare system in Quebec. do some research and you'll see why.
Ontario(especially Ottawa) has the best healthcare system at the General Hospital and the CHEO.

Ottawa has its pros and cons. for a family it is a amazing but for jobs it's a bit tough market since all the government is located here, and you need to be a Canadian citizen for at least 10 years to work in gvt jobs.

Good luck!
