Dont take all you money to canada, make an account in lebanon and/or

because if you take big amounts, ull not get help from government. i have friend studying engliqh and french courses and getting 1300$/month.
if you take big amount youll get nothing.

you can take cash or chèque
TD bank is best.

You need to make credit cards because all building you r not allowed to have washing machine in ur appartement. so youl go down to wash your clothes and pay by credit card its 2.5$/ wash and 2.5$/drying

First, new immigrants are not allowed to receive social assistance from the government, I believe for the first 3 years. Second, if you're plan is to come and be on scoial assistance, than I suggest you stay where you are. Tax payers don't need to pay for your laziness. Third, never heard of a building where credit cards are used to wash clothes. They accept coins.

CC, maybe some new buildings and machines are adapted to cards... cz I know soe who recently landed there and who opened an account in RBC... has been given a card for that purpose!!!

I dont think its a Credit Card, its more a debit card that withdraw a minim amount from a mother account to pay little fees!

It's probably a card where you add funds.

I couldnt have put it better myself as explanation, but sadly CC this is a major problem of why our kin immigrates .
also i would like to add that another type of gov aid is unemployment checks that a person WONT be able to acquire unless they already worked for 980 hours first! anyways, would you like to see processing time for leb going up to 100 months? then keep that fucked up mentality

I agree with you 100% Dori. I see too many immigrants abusing the system by working under the table and receiving monthly help from the government. It's unfortunate that they are taking money away from people who truly need it. Wonder why we are getting a bad repuration in Canada.... :-X

These people don't realise that when they abuse the system, they are taking money away from schools, education, and other services. In the end, it's the people who work hard every day and pay taxes that are funding their laziness.

Like you, I hope people who immigrate actually plan to settle and look hard to find a job. I understand times are tough and it won't be easy, but one must try.

have a question.. i did already my landing and have the PR Card but didnt open the bank account since i thought better to do it when wer back but in case i want to open it before going back whats the different step?

thanks

what do you mean by "back" ?
as far as i know the type of account i was signing up for is only eligible to immigrants that have not landed yet, what they do is they freeze it after wiring and request of you to pay any of their branch a visit within 3 days after landing.
