very simple income tax calculator in canada, choose quebec, the numbers are scary especially that you also have to add another 15% tax on anything you want to buy.. :-/

it is an informative link and not intended to discourage anyone, we are still all going :)

U have to deal with it. I'm paying lots of taxes here but with time you get used to it and consider it as a normal thing. I'm paying 13% in Ontario and 15% in Quebec. You can't do a tax refund cause it has been stopped since 2007. The gas is more expensive in Quebec and a lil cheaper in Ontario. My car is 4 cylinders and registered in ontario so it's kind of a good thing for fuel consumption...

btw if you live on the boarder in quebec and work in ontario you have to pay taxes for both provinces, that sounds too much, no ?

Don't even think about it... The more money u make the more tax u pay when it comes to the yearly income tax... Settle down in 1 province and pay its taxes for a start. Some people are living in Gatineau and working on Ottawa side, people I know of course. The main reason is cause the houses are cheaper on Quebec side

Hello All,
How do you know where is your file now?
I received a letter last month titled "Demande de résidence permanente au Canada (TQQ)" and the letter said that they received the paper and the payment and they said incase we changed our employer "and I did" we should notice them, but they didn't clarify to which office!!

so any thoughts from the expertise about how can I know if my file is still in Sydney, Beirut, or Bucharest ??

I know a few people who do that...they say in the end it balances out...because cost of living, water and insurance etc. is much cheaper in Quebec.

just start fill the papers and send them asap to the embassy. the waiting time after that would be between 3 month to 6 month for ppr . did you pay ppr fees 490$ for each applicant above 18? try to send the documents using EMS it is cheaper than dhl or aramex and faster

Hello,

Ah ok! I sent it on April 1st via DHL... That means that I would expect my medicals during next couple of months! Right?

But how come, for dkeyrouz, it took the embassy 45 days around to receive his file?

Kanata is a great area, lots of Lebanese families live there, it's 30 min far from dt Ottawa and it has all the high tech companies... I've been there and seen all the companies. The houses are not so expensive but the problem it's still considered as Ontario.
You should've see the Lebanese people in old Montreal last night... Soooo crowded
In my opinion we got to find a location near our work. I mean first search for a job then find a location not very far from our work.
Csaade ! Stop teasing us. Old Montreal is such a Beautiful place !

You can work in Montreal and live in Laval but it takes 30-45 minutes to get there and sometimes more. The traffic on the highway is unbearable. I got stuck in it today on my way back to Ottawa, lots and lots of constructions before the winter
