Proposed Bill Could Strip Terrorists of Canadian Citizenship

Thursday, 07 February 2013 Category Other topics

Canadian Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney stated that his government would like the power to strip citizenship from Canadians who commit terrorism or acts of war. This statement was made one day after a dual Canadian and Lebanese citizen was indicated as a participant in a bus bombing in Bulgaria last year.

I agree with this...they should remove someone's citizen ship when he is convicted of a serious crime...however this is for people who are already naturalized citizens and have committed and have been charged with a crime. The people who are waiting for immigration are not part of this category.

I agree with you 110%....1) this article is very short and is written on a lawyer's page.....2) if you read the article you will see it's for people living in canada and have a dual citizen and have COMMITTED a crime of terrorism. I agree....they don't deserve the Canadian Citizenship. It has nothing to do with the immigration process.

UFFF I was getting mad...thank God I read the article...lol now I can calm down!!

i got one week ago a request to submit my passport in Beirut embassy. i have 30 days to submit it. my medical exam expires on 15th march. i'm afraid that i have only one month to leave. does anyone know if the medical exam has been extended for 15 month instead of 12 month. i'm currently working and i need minimum 1 or 2 month period notice after my resignation so i don't know what to do.

Wassim 1000 Mabrouk, good luck bro

Congrats..
you can btw land, submit papers for your SIN, PR Card etc.. than come back to lebanon. if you have anyone in canada, where you can give the address so they can send you the PR Card. (at least this is for federal applications) but also check it if it also applies to QSW. in this way you will have time to finalise your stuff here in beirut and go back.

2. How much time will I have to enter Canada after receiving my permanent resident visa??

You must enter Canada within the validity of your permanent resident visa. A permanent resident visa cannot be extended.

The validity of a permanent resident visa is connected to the date of expiry of the medical examination results as well as to the validity of the passport. The medical examination results are valid for one year from the date you had the examination.

The expiry date is clearly visible on the visa sticker.

As of December 1, 2011, citizens of visa-exempt countries no longer have a permanent resident visa affixed to their passport. These applicants are only issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). The expiry date is clearly visible on the COPR.
