St Laurent, 650 cad for a 3 1/2 my friend used to pay that, he moved last month. but it is not downtown, it is close though

@ MEF

Its so sad to hear that, from you... I know all these stories there, I might be engaged after few weeks to lady from Montreal, she is paying 500 CAD $ sharing, if you like I will give you her contact.

Canada became too expensive, they pay about 35% income taxes & 15% goods taxes which makes it 50%

Hope you'll get job soon. Just think about staying 1 year or more jobless, you will spend all what you saved before.
So plan to take cheap apartment ;D

As for you husband, do not let him leave his job in Qatar till you get job 8)

About job market
There are lot of jobs, but for immigrants hard to get, for those who are not Quebec graduates.
I've been told that they send their CV but no one call for interview.
The start will be hard, but later will be fine
.

@ jet
She cant rent in St. Laurent, its far from downtown, she has no driving license, even very hard to buy a car, because she has to pay 250$ insurance /month :'(

@ MEF
I told you before all people who left from gulf to Quebec or Canada came back to gulf.
Please share everything, it will be useful for us.

As for me, my plan to establish my own business when I land there, since I cant go as business immigration.

Try this link

http://www.kijiji.ca/

This also place 750/850 per month. very good, remember if you stay far youll pay metro taxi etc also check if chauffage is paid, furnished apartments, you can take 1 month then search slowly ;)

http://www.berrisuites.ca/index-3.html
Most Canadians from English cities they speak french & they search for jobs in Quebec

I will tell you something more, for those who plans to own a car in Canada, the weather it too cold & when its below 0, you have to connect you car to special heater 7-8$/hour, if you dont use it, engine will brake.
Its available like Phone booth

It's not a walking distance but it's not too far.

As for transportation, 3 words: Metro, train, bus. This is if you don't have an Arab snobby mentality and want to drive a Range Rover Sport since day 1

Yesterday there was an update to Quebec immigration web.

There are some changes

Sudan Eygpt were October 2010 but now September 2010

Gulf, lebanon etc still August 2010

Too many applicants during september

Hi mef,

It seems you are looking at furnished and "top of the range" studios !!
I know for a fact that perfect unfurnished studios will be even less than the range lemans207 mentioned.

Try to search for furnished suites, its might be cheaper.. just stay for 2 weeks, and this time should be more than enough to find a suitable unfurnished studio..

Good Luck..

Maybe its more expensive now than the time you stayed there, when you came back?
yes she is searching for furnished, it should be for 2 weeks then she can find cheaper.

but I think she should rent for a month, because she has to give her address to receive her PR ;)

Seems that life becoming expensive everywhere, Dubai,Abu Dhabi,Qatar becoming a replica of cities like Montreal, New York etc..
