I remember searching for the point system for Quebec and coming up with no 'official' confirmation for the same. All I had was this - http://worldmigration.net/documents/Quebec%20Selection%20Factor.pdf which is rather old. How did you determine your points? At the official site, the results don't give you the actual points you scored, right? http://www.form.services.micc.gouv.qc.ca/epi/index.jsp?languageCode=en

It is strange that you are qualifying for FSW, but not for QSW. Is it because of the French points? Not sure how to improve your points unless you give me a breakup of them. How many points you gave for French? I am assuming improving your French would be the way to go.

Hi,
I took the assessment test here (http://www.migrationexpert.com/canada/visa/free_canadian_visa_eligibility_assessment.asp) months ago and I remember the results provides a detailed assessment on how many points one gets on each category.
Thanks for the links. I will try them now an see what will be the result.
Will applicants necessarily have interview for Quebec application process or can it be waived too?

@mbastudies, good to see that you are eligible to apply. Congrats! As for the training list, it looks like the list gives more weightage to Quebec degrees since the Foreign degrees is literally empty, save for the last few pages which again gives you 0 points! Don't see the logic behind publishing a long list that fetches you 0 points ??? There is Industrial Engg given under the Quebec degrees, but I presume you didn't obtain yours from QC. The only one in Foreign degrees is Industrial Maintenance Technology which would fetch you 6 points if you're the principal applicant.

@katoky, your chances for Quebec looks quite good. Take the eligibility test and look through the links provided above. Bonne chance!

Mbastudies,

As I understood the domaine of formation pdf is that the left column lists the degrees obtain in Foreign schools and the right column for degrees obtained in Quebec. Each section lists how many points you get if your degree is listed there, say, Civil engineer (my degree) was obtained in Mexico so if I do a search, Civil Engineer is in section C which gives me 6 points in domaine de formation because it was not obtained in Quebec.

For your case, I'm afraid you get 0 points. Industrial and Administrative Engineering (foreign) is in section E and Urban Affairs Management (I'm assuming is a Master's) is not even listed so I don't know, I would think it would be up to the discretion of the officer reviewing the case.

Katoky,
From the links I provided above, you may have a chance. Do look at them and assess yourself and let us know.

Hi Charmeuse,

I agree with your analysis regarding Quebec, i am not v. good in french but i am accompany de facto spouse with my girl friend, she is the main principal and she is European fluent in french in addition to English.

She got Bachelor in Languages including French language, she had to submitt no more evidences for French language like DELF, DALF or T.E.F.A.Q.

They were satisfied with her French profficiency.

May be Quebec in Faster but is not easier, but the processing time is way quicker than Federal.............

Mef

After October 14, 2009 its pretty much the same to apply for Quebec Immigration as FSW. Like the FSW, they have come up with a list of occupations - if you are on that list - they will process your application as long as you meet the points test. Similar to FSW - the list contains only a handful of occupations - I think 35 or so.

French is not mandatory if your occupation is on their list and you meet the points test. But if you are called for an interview - you might have to convince them about your future intentions to learn French to live in Quebec.

Time frame wise - they are almost the same - hardly any difference. But it gives you more latitude in the sense that some occupations are not there on FSW but there on the Quebec list and vice versa. So if your occupation is on the Quebec list - give it a shot.

Hello Flocks,

Sorry to say i disagree with CanSun in the fact that if your occupation is in the 38 list of training - give it a shot - , even if not, you still could highly qualify for having higher scale of points than some with being in............................... at the end of the day, have you satisfied the officer's requirements or not?

Keep up.

Thanks charmeuse, zygurn, and mef for your interesting replies and posts. I am now on FSW application and hope I can succeed in it. Anyway, I'm learning French as I love the language. And who knows, maybe one day it helps! ;)

@ Mef: What is the processing time for Quebec like? Does it have two series of assessment like in FSW, where we get an initial AOR from Nova Scotia and then have to submit to CHC?
