Hi
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/quebec/apply-application.asp

Benny

Thanks Benny, but i just wanted to know the difference between the two and which one is better and why...

Their pointing system for evaluating the applicants is different, as you probably know.
And if I am not mistaken, good knowledge of French language is a MUST for Quebec applicants.
I am not sure, but if I am not mistaken, the Quebec application process might be quicker. Just heard from others!
Anyway, another difference is that in Federal, if you want bto apply based on yourt work experience, your job must be in the 38 NOC list, but in Quebec process, no such limitation.

can an applicant apply to both places simultaneously? The CIO as well as Qubec?

Hello Guys,

I have applied to Quebec just few days ago, i have been gathering the documents and filling the applications for about 2 months, i could tell more about it.

- It's easier, quicker
- French is amust for the principal applicant
- No 38 list training area required, but if your's included, you get priority
- you get more points for adaptability, for ex: previous stay in Quebec - even visiting -, relatives in Quebec, study in Quebec....
- Points Score is 63 instead of 67 for Federal......

Please don't hesitate if you need more info.

Thanks
Mef

I was refused FSW1 because I couldn't convince the officer of my experience in NOC 0213, but was selected for QSW; the favorable fact for me was that I had applied for QSW even before I applied for FSW. You need to have an intermediate level of French because the Quebec selection interview is going to be at least 50% in French. Generally, from what I've heard, you have to convince Quebec authorities that QC is not just a back door to enter Canada, you have to have a solid reason for why you prefer QC and show them that you are working hard on improving your French.

Depending on the processing times in your country, you can lodge an application showing your basic knowledge of French and that you're continuing to learn it, and by the time you are called for an interview, you can improve your French. For instance, I applied in July 2008 with the DELF A1 certificate from Alliance Française and by the time I was called for interview in November 2009, I could present the DELF A2 certificate as well as the current enrollment in Level B1 with an attestation from the Director of AF.

Have to disagree with 'mef' when s/he says it's easier, quicker. After the fast track has begun for FSW, at least from India, FSW is faster. The advantage for QSW is that they don't have the 38 NOC list (though they have come out with a priority list now, which will result in a faster processing). The disadvantage is, you have to know French.

Thanks charmeuse,

Your reply was very informative, at least for me.
So you mean even an intermediate level of French (e.g. Delf B1 or an intermediate Level 3 to 4 in TEF), is enough?
The problem is for Quebec, the pointing system is different and although (if I am not mistaken) they require 55 points for singles, I couldn't get it, while I am well over required 67 points for FSW. It sounds strange to me. Any guide how I can improve my point for it too? :D
