Q's regarding TRV for wife accompanying me to Canada

Wow, what a great website -- chock full of information!

My wife (Thai national) is going to apply for a TRV. I'm a Canadian citizen, as is our daughter. We live in Thailand and have no intention of moving to Canada. We just want to visit for 30 days in September to visit my family. I'd be most grateful if someone could answer four questions I have regarding the documentation required. I apologize in advance if the answers are obvious; I'm new to all this stuff.

1. If I'm accompanying my wife on the trip, do I still need to provide a letter of invitation? If so, can I write it? Or someone from my family who is living in Canada.

2. Under Explain the purpose of your trip, it asks for "provisional travel arrangements (airline and hotel bookings)". I am reluctant to make any flight bookings until my wife has secured her visa, as if her visa is denied (which, from what I've read, is not beyond the realm of impossibility), we stand to lose a considerable sum of money. In addition, we plan to stay with family for the duration of our stay, so we will not be making any accommodation bookings. Is it acceptable to submit my application without providing these bookings?

3. We own a house here in Thailand and my child is enrolled in a private school here. My wife is a homemakerer, so she does not have any of the employment or business information requested, and I fear this may reflect negatively on her application in that they may think she's coming to Canada to stay and work. Is there anything else we can provide that will help her chances of securing the TRV? Thai house registration in her name, for example?

4. If I'm paying for the trip, I assume it's me that needs to write and sign the accompanying funding letter, right?

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance.

Hi,

First bit of advice: Do not rush to submit her application. Take your time, prepare the paperwork well, go through this forum, and ask for advice if you need it.

A family member, not you.

She must include detailed day-by-day plans for her visit with expense estimates like a typical tourist for sightseeing + meeting family and friends + activities.

Do not book flights. It is not required.

You'll need to post the detailed list of documents.

I recommend you go through these cases, including the sub-links, for suggestions:

Thank you very much for responding, Bryanna. We have three months before we wish to go, so we'll definitely do as you suggest and take our time. And I'm sure there will be more questions to come. Thanks again.
