Does anyone know if there is a contact number for the Regional Medical Office in Ottawa? All I can find is an email address and a fax number. I would really like to speak to a person.

When I call the general Immigration hotline (1-888-242‑2100) there are no options to talk about medical examinations or anything related to medical. It mainly seems to be about checking the status of your application or providing additional information to Immigration.

No. Send an email. They are very quick about responding.

Okay, thank you.

In the email I've basically stated that $2,000 is a lot of money for my wife and I. I asked them if they could clarify why such an evaluation is necessary and to explain how my wife's condition falls under their risk criterion. I respectfully asked them if the medical examiner would reassess whether such an evaluation is necessary.

I figure it doesn't hurt to try. Hopefully they are sympathetic to our situation.

In my observed experience, RMOs do take quickly action when issues are brought to their attention, so you may get a good resolution.

The doctor my wife was seeing was in Korea. I'm not sure he will be able to help. We're in Canada now applying inland.

Talked to the clinic briefly and he said we're welcome to find a psychiatrist to perform the evaluation but the one he referred us to is the only one in the GTA willing to do it. Apparently the doctors assume all the liability if something should happen down the road and they made the decision that an individual was fine.

Ah, did not realise you were in Canada and hence different doctors.

Don't know what else to suggest. If you have a GP you can see that you trust, but don't know how much other doctors would wish to get involved without knowing her situation. Price still seems high to me but just not familiar.

In some other circumstances would see if doctors further afield - Ottawa, Montreal? - or even the USA across border might be more reasonable. Obviously crossing border while applying inland may not be feasible.

Sorry don't have much better suggestions.

Good luck with that !
Hopefully your respectful message will be reviewed by someone reasonable.

Had assumed you were outland applicant with your wife in Korea.....That changes things.
Unfortunately being honest with them has led you down an unexpected/expensive path.
Does your wife have a work permit?

Good thing is you are together.

Yes, she received her work permit already. After she was asked to do her medical exam we assumed things with our application were going well. Hopefully if we get through this we'll be clear of trouble the rest of the way.

Thank you everyone for your comments. These are stressful times so the support is greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, it's been about three business days with no response from the Regional Medical Office in Ottawa, so I just want to make sure I sent my email to the right place.

Here is where I sent it: IRCC.MHBPMInquiries-RenseignementsMPDGMS.IRCC@cic.gc.ca

This was the email listed for the Ottawa Regional Medical Office from the link a few people posted in this thread. (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...nuals/panel-members-handbook-2013.html#app1.3)

We were expecting a quick reply, so we weren't sure if that meant one or two business days or possibly more.

Thanks.

It's the right email. Give it a week.

So it's been a week. My wife and I are feeling pretty discouraged. No response from Immigration.

Do we have any other options? We can't wait for a reply forever. Immigration expects the report by the end of February.

If we need to request more time who do we contact?

That's unusual. RMOs are usually very quick to respond. Try emailing the other RMOs.

You would send a Webform to request more time.

Just forwarded the email to the other RMOs and immediately got an automated response from the London office saying the message was received. We didn't receive such a message after emailing the Ottawa office.

Also received a message from the Manilla office saying "address not found". I assume if I sent it to the wrong email address for the Ottawa office that I would've received a similar message, no?

Received a response from the email address listed for the Ottawa Regional Medical Office.

It stated that the email address is NOT for applicant inquiries. They did not provide another email but instead directed us to fill out a web form. We did this, but it's really annoying that they basically left us hanging for a week before telling us we contacted the wrong email address.

Just thought I would provide this update in case people want to contact the medical office in the future.

So now we're waiting on a response from Immigration after sending them our situation via web form. Fingers crossed!

I'm surprised to hear that. I've seen many situations where the RMOs responded to applicants.

Hopefully you hear back from the Webform.

Perhaps there is a new contact address. All the other RMOs seem to have regular looking email addresses but the one for Ottawa is like 40 characters long. It doesn't look right compared to the London email address for example.

I really would've liked to contact the RMO directly, but they didn't provide a method to do that. I suppose we could send them a fax, but I'm not sure the best way to do that in terms of getting a response back.
