I'v been to the states twice, and returning to Canada was so smooth, it didn't take 5 minutes at the border;however, when i visited Turkey , a country on border with my country, it was tougher at the Canadian border. They have searched everything you can name, but i was cool with that, because i haven't visited my country so there is nothing to worry about. They asked me too many questions that i can not remember now, i was honest with them and eventually the let me back in Canada.

Btw, the CBSA officers were nice, they asked for my permission to search my items, eventhough they can do that without it.
Just be cooperated, and honest, don't try to argue.

I will continue to use my travel document, eventhough i haven't received my PR yet.
Hi Syrian
Can I ask what countries did you visit with your travel doc? Is it easy to apply for visas? (I dont have PR yet)

If you hold a Canadian travel document and have protected person status in Canada, do you still need to apply for a visa the country you are trying to visit? (ex USA)

It depends on visa regulations of that country. But in many cases - yes, you have to apply for visa. Even some countries treat you as a stateless person in spite of the fact that you possess a Canadian travel document.

If in the Section (5) Citizenship and Travel Documentation you wrote that you have a passport of your country - they always ask a copy of it. If you say "no" - copy is not required.
