I'm an American marrying a Canadian this August in Canada. My entire family is coming up for it. Our plan is for me to go up there, stay a couple months if they will allow that and then come back to file for PR from the US so I can continue working here. I have heard the wait is shorter filing from outside Canada then from within. What are the pros and cons for applying either within or outside of Canada? What are the general timelines for acceptance of PR status from within or outside filing? The CIC website has changed drastically since I was last looking at it and now when I go to look up timelines its saying 3 months for a new PR card but cannot find anything about filing from in out out of Canada. That cannot be correct....
