hey everybody,

my partner and i want to undergo the "common-law" sponsorship application.

i'm gathering "evidence" as proof of our relationship/that we combined our affairs together.
i have a few questions:

- we have a joint account since july 2012; to proof that i was going to send a document that shows when we opened up the account showing the primary and secondary accountholder; i was also going to include some bank statements as proof...my question is...how many should i include? like 2 or 3 for 2012, then 4 or so for 2013 and a couple for 2014? or should i include all of them?

- i'll also send: tenancy agreements, rent receipts, facebook posts (showing interaction with our friends), pictures, fido contract (showing that my partner took me into his account since i don't have a credit in canada), my visa statements showing that i'm paying our bills, gas, etc, letters addressed to me and/or my partner showing the same address, some tickets (comedy shows, etc)..................can you think of anything else?

thank you!!!

That sounds like a pretty good collection of evidence. The tenency agreements listing both of you are excellent. Have you traveled together commercially? If so, flight itineraries. Are you the beneficiaries on each other's life insurance policies? Are you on each other's car insurance? That's about all I can think of.

Can't really answer the bank statement question. I would think a selection would be fine, as long as you include the first one to show when it was established, and the last one to show it's ongoing.

I would probably include a few statements which cover the whole period. That way the officer can see it has been in place for that whole time span rather than just including one from 2012. Better send more than have them write back to you requesting further clarification!

Thank you!

Okay, I think I'll include just a few statements then rather than for 2 years...but at the same time making sure that officers can see it's ongoing...
No, unfortunately we don't have life insurances yet - I'm still going to school meaning so far there's not a lot of money pouring in....yet, haha!

I'm also not named on the car insurance, however I paid with my credit card for it - maybe I can include that as well showing that our affairs are combined?

I think that would probably help. As far as I understand they are trying to ensure that your relationship is genuine and you have been cohabiting for a year or more. From my reading of this forum those who seem to have provided more information and organised it appropriately have had less hassle so to speak. There is no guarantee that things will be quicker as I'm sure the more senior members will say but the more evidence you can provide in an organised manner can't dent your application!

I agree with this reply,
there is never too much information,
the more evidence that you can provide, the better chances of them to see that your relation is permanent.

Hi, Saluma.

Did you already process the application of your husband?

We have the same situation, I was granted a student visa but my husband got denied so I am researching on ways in sponsoring him or letting him come to Canada. How many months did you study in Canada before you sponsored him?

Thanks.
