Proof of planning to move to Canada

Hi all,

I'm assuming I'm not the only one who is having an issue with this part of the process. While on one hand I'm being told that it might take more than two years for my husband to get residency, on the other hand I am supposed to provide leases or job offers or things like that to prove that I'm planning to move there. Why would I have any of these things now, considering I don't plan to move there until (if) he gets it?

Someone please help me out with this one - what are alternative guarantees that we plan to move to Canada granted he gets the PR?

If you do not send any of the proofs they want they will disqualify you as a sponsor and your application will be denied.
granted he gets a PR you must first arrange that the sponsor qualifies. This means you my dear. In order for you to have a successful process you must provide CIC at least one proof of your intend to re settle in Canada.
What I did was to have my ex employer send me a job offer. And mind you I was living out of Canada for more than 23 years. They accepted it!
Other people who applied could not get a job offer so they had to submit a notarized letter from a relative that he/she was going to provide shelter (to live free of rent) for a lengthy period of time.
You cannot apply without sending your proof!

Hmmm thanks for the tips! Why does the letter have to be notarized? As in, what does it mean to notarize a letter and why cant you just submit like an e-mail in which a family member of friend states that they will house you?

When someones submits a job offer as a proof of intend it has to be in paper most likely in a stationary type with the logo of the company hiring you. Just imagine! Would you accept someone's proof of intend if he just brought you a plain paper without any credibility?
The same would apply if a relative was to send you a letter offering you and your family accommodation. The letter has to look and feel official. Emails would not in most cases be accepted. If your relatives cannot make a notarized letter, then make sure they will send you a statement in an envelope that has been sent through regular postal mail. In this letter they have to declare who they are where do they live and so on.

You are mistaken by saying that your application will take 2 years to complete unless your VO is one of those that has a lengthy processing time.

You must send a proof!

Thanks you're helping out a lot. One last thing. Does the VO have to be in my husbands national country or can it be in mine (because I have a second nationality in Austria, and his is Lebanese.. and I fear the Beirut office might take quite a bit longer)

Unfortunately the sponsor's country of origin does not affect the VO for the immigrant. Your husband been Lebanese his VO must be Beirut. Unless he is also a citizen or a permanent resident of the country you're both living now then yes there could be a chance that the files to be processed in Vienna. (I take it you are in Austria). You have to remember that even though he gets a European VO his process may (I say may) take a little longer than usual due to background checks.

Please wait until some members with similar experience answer you on this first. Please give more info on your next message about where you are in Europe so people here may assist you more efficiently.
