You can show bonds and saving certificates, but not property. This is not written anywhere, however due to the high number of fraud cases (fake property evaluations), they do not accept property documents as POF.

Hi Emamabd

As we discus this mater before, I am going to Canada first time on PR.

As you suggested me before that POF should be in three forms such as cash, bank draft and TCs Correct advice 8)

I Have been to bank, they asked me traveler cheque or traveler chard. they said, both are different things. You need to Traveler Cheques

Traveler card is just like a ATM OR traveler cheque is a different. Traveler Cheque is just like cash. Each page of the cheque will have an amount printed on it (just like cash) and you just have to sign and hand it over: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traveler's_cheque

If, I take bank draft for $10,000 or $2000 cash, how to make bank draft such as payable at etc??? The DD will be payable to you (i.e. your name will be printed as the payee) and it should be drawn on a Canadian Bank (just tell your bank this, they will know what to do)...how long it takes time to cash from India...??? The DD is drawn on a bank in Canada, not India, however they have a concept of holding cheques and DDs, this means the money will not be available to you for approximately 14 days, once you build history with the bank, this hold time will decrease (over a period of several years ::) )

So could you plz suggest me which one immigration will accept? which is the best option? Take cash to last you for 3 weeks and the rest as Canadian $ DD

plz reply me as soon as possible because i have not much time.

thank......

Can I show fixed deposits/term deposits from indian banks as POF at poe. Thanks

If you are talking about showing a bank statement to show your term deposit, then this can only be used at the time of application. You cannot use bank statement from India to show POF at point of entry. Need to show this amount is available to you in Canada, not India.

Because you need the money available to you in Canada. You will also have to pay tax on your gold (precious metals) jewelry in Canada, if you show the intent to sell it once you need funds. Duty free imports for first time landing becomes void if you intend to sell the item (or items) before the period of 1 year and you have to pay tax on that item (or items): http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5113-eng.html

In short, if you try to show gold as your POF, then you are also declaring your intent to sell (if and when needed, but this will not be considered) the gold in Canada and as such cannot claim duty-free exemption awarded to a new immigrant for it.

BTW you may also have issues with customs in your home country if you plan to take large amounts in gold coins or biscuits.

The two photographs must:
  • show a full front view of the person’s head and shoulders, showing their full face centred in the middle of the photograph
  • have a plain white background
  • be identical (black & white or colour) - produced from the same untouched negative, or exposed simultaneously by a split-image or multi-lens camera
  • be produced on single weight matte paper
  • measure between 25mm and 30mm (1" and 1 1/5") from chin to crown
  • have a finished size of 35mm x 45mm (1 3/8" and 1 3/4")

Hello forumites and seniors,

Please, I need clarification as regards proof of fund. I am an FSW applicant, and my visa office is CPP-O. I just received Medical Mail, and instructions to pay right of permanent residence fee for myself and spouse. But there is also an instruction as follows; Updated evidence of settlement funds (showing 6 months deposits/ withdrawals history) for yourself and your spouse, which indicates a minimum of $17,011 CAD.
My questions is as follows;
1. Is it that the deposit and withdrawal transactions history in the account should be $17,011?
2. I have got a UK bank statement (I also used a UK bank statement when submitting initially) that has over six months transactions, showing deposit and withdrawal, but the transaction is not up to $17,011, however the closing balance will be $21,000. Which I want to send to CIC, can I present the bank statement?

Responses from forumites will be greatly appreciated
