Proof of Funds - Spouse

Hi all, I am looking for some current information. Does a sponsored spouse have to show proof of funds upon landing? If so, can accounts in my name ( Canadian sponsor) count?

Not for spousal, but a bank statement from you would be fine just in case you get a jerk/uninformed border guard.
