As IRCC website states, CEC applicants do not need to show proof of funds but can upload a letter instead. I have come across some discussions that if you mentioned $ amounts in your express entry profile, then you need to show proof of funds,
Is this true? And is there any correlation between the amount you enter in profile despite being a CEC applicant n proof of funds?
Do I have to show proof of funds if I just mentioned in profile even though Im CEC applicant? Please let me know. Thanks

If anyone is in same situation n got PR, please let me know. Thanks

Hi, I put an arbitrary amount $5000 for how much money you'll bring in Canada, while creating profile and I was invited under CEC program on January 8, 2021. Now the checklist is asking me to upload POF, should I change the amount to $0 and upload the LOE in optional documents mentioning that I was invited under CEC and that's why I change the amount to $0 or should I keep it as it is and upload the LOE in POF placeholder stating that I am an CEC applicant? Please guide me through this as I see your signature that you are on the verge of finishing your application (Congratulation for that though ! :) )

Change it to 0. Should be okay. If the system asks for PoF, you’re correct, upload an LOE instead.

Thank you for your reply. You mean to say I should change it to 0 and then just provide LOE that as I was invited under CEC I do not need to show proof of funds. As I know, if I'm changing it to 0 it is not asking for any proof of fund documents. So I should change it to 0 and provide and LOE stating that I changed it to 0 coz I am CEC candidate and I am exempt from this requirement. Right?

You don’t need to add an LOE if there’s no document placeholder for PoF. You’re not getting points for PoF anyways, so you’re score will remain the same, so what’s to explain?

You MUST upload LOE as per cic.

"The system currently asks all applicants to provide a proof of funds document. If you don’t need to provide proof of funds, you must upload a letter
explaining either that you have been invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class, or that you have a valid job offer. "

I get this. This is when you get a document placeholder for PoF even if you’re invited under CEC.

I’m only sharing based on what I experienced in my app. I put in 0 in PoF and my document checklist didn’t ask for PoF documents. Didn’t provide LOE at all on PoF and got my PR last week.

Yes you got through lucky this time but what if the visa officer who will be reviewing our friend here's application is super strict? What they will see is they changed their funds from xxx in EE profile to 0 in eAPR just to dodge the document placeholder. Worst case they can even just put misrepresentation and get it them banned for 5 years.

My point is just write the damn letter as per cic and don't worry a thing. Why risk your entire application because you can't take 10 minutes of your life typing out a letter?

Woah, don’t need to be rude just to drive a point.

I’m just saying that the system sometimes asks for PoF when it shouldn’t have. As I never got one at all.

Which part of my comment was rude? I said you were lucky and it was a fact and congrats. My argument was backed by cic official website and it was a fact as well.

As for what you are saying, the system does not "sometimes" asks for PoF. They ask for PoF if you claim that you are bring X amount of money into Canada and they don't ask PoF is you put in 0. Yes it does not make sense that they make CEC applicant still have the PoF document upload section but they have rules saying that it is what it is now and you will need to have an LoE. People put in 0 to manipulate the system and it is also understandable. But cic also asked you to answer every question truthfully in your application as well. I really doubt people have 0 dollar in their accounts. What if they hold you against your statements? Can you defend against it?
