Hey guys,
I have a huge problem!
On 18th Jan 2015, i had logged on to express entry and successfully created a profile under the NOC 2132(Mechanical Engineer). I had a score of 407. Everything was fine, Job bank had not yet been active. So I waited and today I successfully created a profile in Job bank under the NOC 2274( Marine Engineer Officer) which I am.
So I went back to the CIC site and modified my NOC from 2132 to 2274. When I submitted my profile it says that I am not eligible.
Now the only thing I changed was the NOC, since I had not known about the NOC 2274 then.
Could you please advise.
Thank You!

hi nuclearraj,

The problem must be that you have only changed your NOC. You will need to make changes in the work experience section as well. If there is no work experience with the main NOC you profile can become ineligible.

Make changes in the work experience section and update the outcome here please.

Hey Chad,
The work ex wont change because everything is the same, except the NOC which i did not know before.
The thing is i am a sailor and we have contracts like 6months work and 3-4 months off!
so i think when i put 52 hours work per week and only for 6 months at a time, it is conflicting there.
Now I created another profile stating that i have been working continuously from july 2012 to date with 31 hours of work per week.
I got accepted, but the problem is haven't worked continuously from the above date, which is nearly about 2 and half years. And my experience from July 2012 is exactly 20 months.
also my score has risen to 432 from 407.
so I am not sure as to what I have to do now.

oh. you have to have a year's continuous experience. otherwise you don't qualify. the latest one you did, if you get ITA from that when you submit all your documents they'll see you don't meet the criteria and will reject it. you're also messing around with the possibility of being found to have misrepresented yourself. you need to be careful. Fill out the profile honestly.

hey purplesnow,
Then how is a marine engineer supposed to get into Canada?
There is no way that we can have one year's continuous work unless we stay on the ship for that period!

As you must have already seen in the forum, if the data entered is found to be wrong.. (in this case it is also adding points for you) it can lead to getting you banned for 5 years.

So you better confirm with others or even CIC before you get an ITA.

This link says: at least one year (1,560 hours total / 30 hours per week), continuous full-time or an equal amount in part-time.

I read this as if you work part-time then you should show that your cumulative hours add up to at least 1560 hrs.

Sorry here is the link.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

Also there should be a place to specify how many hours per week in work experience section. You can first determine how many hours you worked (cumulative total; and that has to be at least 1560 hrs) and divide the total hours into 52 weeks and that gives you how many hours a week.

BTW I Completely agree with NOC4162.. Since your work is not continuous you can put your actual months and divide the total number of hours worked by the number of weeks between start and end date.

Anything less than 30 hours per week is part-time... 15 hours per week is just an example.

But you can't take 2 full-time weeks and claim them as 4 part-time to try and show continuous work... If you work 52 hours per week, then it is full-time.

Could it be that you registered for Job Bank too late. You only have 30 days. You had successful EE on 18th Jan and created Job Bank Profile 18th Feb. Could be late by hours, why did you leave it until last minute?
