Hello all.

Can someone please advise me as to why the processing times keep changing?
I'm an Australian in Australia and the processing in Sydney has just recently changed from 11 months to 14 months.
Also the Assessment of sponsor increases almost daily it's now to 90 days.

Apologizes if similar topic already posted previously

Processing times posted on CIC wenbsite are for the application completed in the past.
Stage 1 (Sponsorship Approval) processing times are updated every week (I think) and Stage 2 (Permanent Residence) processing times are updated quarterly.

This does not mean all applications will take that much time. Some are finalized earlier and some later. It indicates that 80% of the applications were finalized during the period.

The processing times posted on cic's website are for the worst case scenarios.

Hi Thanks for the response I just wanted to know why the times kept on changing. At the moment they seem to be getting longer.
Is this due to there work load or is there some other reason?

Maybe because the holidays on the end of the year. Who knows.
Anyway it's just on the worst case.
People that I know we're processed by São Paulo visa office (8 months on cic site) and were done in about 2 or 3.

Cool thanks for the response.

Application volumes go up and down - so processing times go up and down. This is perfectly normal and it has always been this way.

Number of applications received during a particular period can cause the processing times to go up or down. It can be work load or slow processing or both.

We are in NZ, applying through the Sydney visa office and noticed the same thing. We got upfront medicals done so hope our applications get approved before the medicals need to be re-done.

IMHO, CIC really needs to update the language for the overseas visa office processing times to say "within xx months", or "up to xx months".

The way that it's written now, leads people to believe that, for 80% of the applicants, it will take xx months.
