Hi all,

Processing times for sponsorship of spouses, common-law or conjugal partners and dependent children applications processed by visa offices outside Canada are currently available here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp

So my questions is this: Is there a way to access processing times for CPP-Ottawa?

The only offices that show for USA are Detroit, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle.

Thanks in advance!

It's far too new to have any processing times. The office just opened the past few months, so unfortunately, this wave of applicants will be the guinea pigs.

Hopefully the time through New York will drop after the kinks out. It's still really high comparatively(sp?). It actually went up since I checked last. :'( Oh well the wait is worth it.

OMG..... I was hoping it would be much less than 12 months. I received my letter on November 8th saying I was approved as a sponsor. I am sponsoring my common-law husband from the US and I thought that other applications had gone through really quickly........ ishhh.....

I was thinking that even though they are sending faster approvals for stage 1, they are also producing more work for state 2 so the processing times will go up, I bet their work is piling up :(

Some people have gotten through much quicker. If you check out the thread about PPRs from Ottawa you will see most of us had sponsor approval in july-sept that are getting PPRs now. (Plus, those statistics are 80% of cases finalized in 12 months, not the average time per case).

I guess what I am saying is- don't lose hope!

Judging by the tracking spreadsheets on this forum, seems CPP-Ottawa is taking about 7-9 months. March/April 2012 applicants are getting PPR now.

Actually, that's counting Step 1 time (which was quite a bit longer for April-May-June applicants). I think there's no point in put a number to CPP: it was faster as it was starting up and is going to slow down once they are at full load.

For example, my step one took more than 90 days (timeline now is 35 days) but my PPR came one month after getting to CPP BUT my CoPR has still not come more than a month after sending my passport copy. Sooo...it's really up in the air right now.

When did you first apply?

Yeah but then there are people like us that should be really straight forward cases that got shafted in Feb with 100 days or more for stage one approval and are still sitting here watching people who applied months after us and here we still sit getting more and more frustrated by the inequality of CIC practices....
