Hey, guys!
I want to ask if someone had the same experience -

I applied for my PR card renewal in March 2015. Two months after, May 4th, 2015, to be exact, I got an email asking to provide a copy of each page of my travel document (which is my Russian Foreign Passport). I did it the same day. Aaaand.. it's been 16 months now. No one contacted me, nothing!!! Online I see the "In process" status. When I call, they say there are no delays.. Are you kidding me?

Guys, what would you do in this type of situation? I wasn't able to go anywhere, I am trapped for 16 months. It is insane and unacceptable. And no one can give an information on what on EARTH IS HAPPENING?????
I was absolutely qualified for the renewal, all the time periods and everything was perfect.. but 16 months?????? for a PR??? my Dad applied a month before me and he got his card in 3 months!!!!!!
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IT!

Please, help me.

Thank you!

Hi

You are not alone, so many victims are waiting since 14-15 months....I was one of them, received PR card after 14+ months. They are harassing people without any reason...

They are very much interested in inviting/settling REFUGEES at the cost of Citizens/PR......after few years original residents will be REFUGEES and REFUGEES will be Citizens.....

It seems that now-a-days they are processing March/April 2015 files, also tried to send Secondary Review Petition to Govt but not got enough support for signing application..

All the best

Please reach out to your MP to contact IRCC to inquire on why its taken 16 months and so far nothing. Its really unfortunate that its taken so long to approve a PR card. While there is no guarantee that it will work, its worth a try because a lot of folks are waiting and its been messed up for a while now and not really sure how/what they would do to fix it but there are certain cases through MPs that have helped and some haven't so its hard to tell but maybe if your MP reaches out to them and the IRCC feels bad that your file has been collecting dust somewhere for so long, to at least look at it. There are so many things wrong within the system that unless there are directives instructed by the new IRCC deputy minister, on how to clear off all these backlogged cases, I would think reaching out to your MP is your best bet at this present time.

Of course, going to court is an option, or you can send an urgent request stating that you want to travel with proof of travel. Both will cost you some money with only the former maybe having a chance of success. I really hope they process your case because March 2015 is a long time.

Wish you the best and keep us informed because from an article in the Vancouver Sun dated May 2016, there are thousands of cases waiting for a PR renewal. Even the lawyers cant believe its taken as long to renew a simple card and for the case mentioned in the article, the lady has been waiting for her renewal since July 2014 so I dont believe its because they are processing cases necessarily from March 2015 right now. I doubt if they really know what is even in the system. Then again, the press gives glowing reviews to JKenney without having a clue on the mess he left behind as many of them dont have to deal with the mess that he created. I would go on but it wont help you so my suggestion would be, at least try with your MP, as there is no harm trying because you have the option and its free with nothing to lose at this point imo.

I'm even wondering if they will ask everyone waiting to send in new applications so as to meet the new photo specifications and fill in the forms etc. Because when you have so many thousands waiting, more concrete steps are needed if they truly want to clear it up. For spousal sponsorship, the minister has directed IRCC to immediately clear it up so some action is forthcoming, but not sure when and also, liberals have prioritized family class for sure as it was a campaign commitment. Another very difficult part is secondary review is not tracked anywhere on the website so the IRCC can always post fancy numbers which are ambiguous if not deceitful. There is no count anywhere that says they processed so many cards, so many were done in first count, so many went into secondary reviews, so many were finished by a certain date. When you dont have that kind of follow up, one is left to God's Mercy than their competence.

Maybe the liberals are hoping that all PRs who get fed up, just apply for citizenship especially if bill c-6 passes and in that way, we would all be newly minted citizens who will remember how nice the liberals were to get us out of this misery of PR card renewals. I'm speculating on my last point as I have no idea why its taken so long to change directives given out by the conservative govt which were overly bureaucratic and clearly shows intent to serve as a drag on the process rather than actually try to either approve/reject. By the way, the latter were not my words but that of Minister Mccallum just a few days back.

Yes, that is exactly what I though. My personal opinion is that is not right at all.. Let's be honest - we are the ones who are paying taxes, so others can be on welfare, basically. And there is nothing you can do about it, damn !
Oh, I'll try too make the process faster as I can, but I am sooooo disappointed...

I applied in June 2015 and I am still waiting as well. I just submitted ATIP online for access of information for my file. it is 5$ charge and you can do it online. This will not help speed up your application, but it tells you more about your application status.
Good Luck
