Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

My wife just got medical request.

My wife got visa on March 16 and arrived in Canada on April 3rd. Yes you may travel to Canada if you have any commercial flights available. But make sure you inform the officials at srilankan air port or at any other transit points that Canada has allowed to arrive “Approved Permanent residence” and also be ready to show them the press release on IRCC website because some of the officials are not well informed so they will make you wait since you don’t have PR card. But once you arrive in Canada, process will be simple, you will be asked to quarantine 14 days in your own place. You would get PR card after 2-3 months.

travel restriction for normal PR applicant not for spouse, common law partner, child, parents, grand parents are exemption from travel restriction. so dont worry you can fly to canada.

I went to the IOM Migration Health Assessment Centre.

Call and book an appointment. They will tell you what you need to bring and how much it is going to cost. When you call them, they will ask UCI of the applicant to make sure it is in the system. Be there on time don’t go too early coz they will only take you inside when time comes.

First Step

They note down your height, weight and standard eye checkup (if you have prescription glasses take them with you)

Second Step

They took Urine, Blood and a Chest X-ray

Third Step

Doctor will ask you question to get an idea of your medical history. Then perform a standard body checkup.



This is my experience I do not know this will be same for everyone.

Did you receive COPR ? If you receive visa after march 18, 2020 can you able to fly now from SL to Canada?

There is no any restrictions for immediate family member of Canadians except you will have to quarantine for 14 days once you land to Canada. Whats your timeline if you don't mind?

Tough question. People who did medical in December still waiting.

I see many got pre arrival letter within 3 months even December applicants. What I think applicants who have travel history take time to complete their background and security check since embassy will do the check in every country that applicant visited. Maybe I am wrong. I don't know.

complicated one.. I've never seen before anyone got pre arrival letter before medical and background/security check get done. you also did Bio-metric after medical . 7 months took to transfer file to Colombo? well at least your long waiting is done anyway. when are you planning to fly to Canada?

If eligibility is passed then PA will receive pre arrival. Most of us still waiting is that secondary officer has to approve the file for the PA to pass eligibility.
