As per my knowledge background check starts only after the eligibility check passes .Since I was out of the country for my higher education for 6 years I had to wait for the background check for months .i had to get the clearance from the country I was n srilanka as well. For people who live in the same place wouldn't take longer .Note that I only use the cic online tool n found the status of DM.i was not able to link my application to the detail status.i don't constantly check those websites unless I get any mail for correspondence,so I much not sure exactly when n how long they took for each of the steps.but 6 months back (may 2017)when we checked through MP office my background check was not even started.(application started to process in august 2016)by that time my police clearance and medical was expired too,then I got the request for remedical n police clearance from the date it got expired to present on 25th of sep 2017.and then we got a call from MP office this wk and they said that my remedical was passed but background check still hv not started.then yesterday I found out DM status.lol I actually hv no idea how long they take and how often do they update.
Somehow I only had the confidence that they might clear most of the application submitted b4 2016 December by end of this year as in their website.so let's be positive n hope for the best .goodluck

Even my husband changed his work place but we did not inform anything,just make sure he has informed the previous work place about your visa processing going on n be in a good relationship with them in case if the VO call them to verify .

how long is a police clearance valid for? my husband received his in April and we only submitted our application and submitted police clearance upfront in July but I didn't receive any notification to submit another one... should I get one ready in case they ask again?

we submitted upfront too. my husband did in oct or nov but still they didn't asked to do again.

don't take police clearance in advance.. it's better to wait until they send you a mail or something
