Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Yes ur albosuletly right and I hear you.. It is very annoying that ppl ask me when my husb. Will be here everytime they see me and my hubby goes through exactly the same issue.. We shd all do something about this whole sponsorship thing.. And wat i dont understand is why cant they have a system and be fair to all instead of showing partiality .. And I really dont get the whole thing abt interviewing the spouses and asking stupid questions if they really doubt a relationship they shd have a differ. Way of finding out... And how long do they expect us to wait. . our whole life???

Girl, I hear you! If they get to make all the calls ... There should be a timeline promise to us ( example within the year). What world do we live in? It goes from 9 months to 16 months within a year ... How do we not get discouraged? the interview... My husband was like so they can ask your shirt or pant size, and I have to tell them the details? Talk about things that are intimate or sacred to us with a third person? I'm honestly like beyond stressed... Feel so stuck ...

I know what you mean. I went to see my husband twice and people at my work knew that I went to see him and they were asking me If I was pregant 6 months after I went to meet him. Like come on people, wudnt my belly will show alot after 6 months IF I was actually pregnant. When I tell them that I am not they go on about giving me advise that I shuldnt wait too long to have a baby blah blah. I just ask them "Do you think I am mother Mary?"

Amen! People started asking me that right after I came back ...it was like you are pregnant already?? And I said no and how I'd love the pleasure of just living with my husband and settling in for a bit first ... Which goes to well this is gonna take long and you should freeze your eggs shouldn't you start trying if it's gonna take so long?? I understand it'll be hard - which is true but I'm not dumb and I don't need you adding to my pool of stress! So now you have all of this and people making me worry about being able to become a mom... And it's a serious topic, like people want to have their first child usually before 30 and we are walking with blindfolds to even when we will be on the same grounds as our significant other? I've never felt so helpless

Also what our spouse get is a conditional PR, so in the two years ... Can't they check how geniune it is? I'd rather do that then have to live away from him for another day

Sorry I'm ranting guys, but I also hate when people tell me the "dangers of Long distance relationships" and stories they've herd about what happens when the guy comes here... Or am I sure he's a good person, it's like I don't need to defend my husband to you ...?!? Or people that say you should of just found someone here don't you think? No I'm in love .. it's not like I'm buying a car to choose domestic or import?!? He is the love of my life and he happens to be in a different country!! Ughhh #ldrproblems ... Sorry again guys!

Foi27, don't be sorry! If anyone is going to understand it's the ppl on this forum. Literally no one else underands our situation and ppl just think you're crazy. Its my choice, I made it, now stop marking it worse than it is! Ppl in Sri Lanka are even worse than ppl here, I've been back twice and every time I go ppl ask me what's happening with my husband's visa as if I had any control over the VO?! What do you even say to that!

And yea there really should be some sort of guarantee as to when the process will be completed. People's lives are at stake, waiting is one thing but waiting blindly not knowing when any of this will be over is something else!

As per CIC, "partners in a relationship of two years or less with their sponsor and who have no children in common with their sponsor at the time they submit their sponsorship application. "

If that's the case unite the couple and after two years, if they must have an interview to see if the relationship genuine.
To this day there are some cultures that the groom only see the bride at the ceremony for the first time in his life.( Hence, the evolution of the veil which covered the bride's face.)

So true. Some of my husband's chatty neighbours are gossiping already that I fooled him to marrying me and I am not doing anything to unite with him. They even give examples of couples who went to their spouses within 3 months to Canada (lol! the mentality of our people )

SL_Chica! I just don't want to sound like a Debbie downer, but it's all just so hard!! Regarding what you were saying, I think some people just have no common courtesy.... They are too busy making calls on other peoples lives when they should just probably focus on their own! Initially everyone was freaking out because we are a mixed marriage and how it will work and blah blah ( what century are we in peope?!) now it's oh she needs to work harder to get him there! Thank GOD my in laws are the best... As I always tell my husband, we can just shut off the noise and focus on us... Because all of us here KNOW for a fact that if our marriage can overcome this .... the rest of our lives will be smooth sailing.... I think in a way we are lucky guys, we wouldn't be quick to divorce or not appreciate our partner because we know HOW hard it was to get together in the first place. You are totally right about the Visa too, they take it that it is in OUR hands ... when it absolutely isn't!!! Are any of you in Toronto??

It's amazing how much you all understand! It feels like I just know you guys... and your right ... People always look down @ us about the visa as if we have control?!?! It's so annoying... And as far as people not understanding ... It's really hard for me... I feel like I'm on my own a lot ... My friends don't understand the odd times I get to talk to my husband - they don't get why I got to talk to him when I do (expect me to come hang out)... what do you really do?! It just opens your eyes a lot ...

My husband did his re-medical last Thursday and in link account it was updated to "passed" from "in process" by Monday.

What do you refer by link account. My spouse did it a month ago and still no update on the CIC online application checking system. I am worried whether the doctor sent the information or not.

Hello all
Yesterday my hubby had the interview, seems successful because they requested for the re-medical and re-pcc within hours of finishing the interview as they are expired.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is indeed good news.

Interview question I will post in the other thread, follow it closely as most questions seem pretty standard.

As for the Interview is only RED FLAG theory isn't exactly true. All south Asians will have an interview as a ETA visa required country, they will do a face to face interview to determine the admissibility.

Could you kindly advise me on this matter, I am Sinhalese and my fiancee is tamil-Canadian citizen, we are planning to marry soon. But we cant get a wedding in Sri Lanka since my Parents are against for our marriage. And her parents are very old and very sick at this moment , so they cant travel to sri lanka. She asks me to come to Canada as a Visitor visa holder and marry her in Canada. I dont know what to do. We have never seen each other and we have been talking since October 2015.
