Hi there,
Could you kindly advise me on this matter, I am Sinhalese and my fiancee is tamil-Canadian citizen, we are planning to marry soon. But we cant get a wedding in Sri Lanka since my Parents are against for our marriage. And her parents are very old and very sick at this moment , so they cant travel to sri lanka. She asks me to come to Canada as a Visitor visa holder and marry her in Canada. I dont know what to do. We have never seen each other and we have been talking since October 2015.

Thank you
There are too many things against you:
1 - never met each other
2 - Parents do not approve
3 - different religions
4 - different languages

What she is suggesting isn't an easy task. How will you get travel visa? it isn't easy unless you are made of money. Sadly this is the truth. Because on what grounds are you applying travel visa? to get married in Canada, you have to be in canada for a certain number of days to get a marriage license (depends on the province).

It is best if she travels to you in Sri Lanka for a visit and first meet you in person, spend some time together and get married at a later date.

Just my 2cents.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is indeed good news.

Interview question I will post in the other thread, follow it closely as most questions seem pretty standard.

As for the Interview is only RED FLAG theory isn't exactly true. All south Asians will have an interview as a ETA visa required country, they will do a face to face interview to determine the admissibility.
Heyy glad to hear that the interview went well and i read the questions they asked prety much straight forward.. but like so ru sure everyone will be interviewed cuz I knoe that the eta thing is prety new and u have to apply in order to go to.certain countries but how come they have to.interview u.. anywaz do you mind sharing ur timeline.. my hubby is waiting for remedical request and do u know appro. Yes this is what he was told at the embassy before he sat down for the interview, that they have to meet everyone in person for South Asian countries. But I am sure there are exceptions.
So if you have an interview, be prepared. The questions are pretty much what you said on your application and they want you to state them in front the VO. Visa officer was very nice and kind and has told him to stop him anytime if a question wasn't understood even in mid sentence.

My timeline is on my profile :)

It looks like they will only ask for re-medical after the interview. The Police Clearance in Sri lanka takes about 3-6 weeks. Ours were expired since July 2016 as they are only valid for one year.

Hi There,
Nick, as SL_Chica mentioned, the most realistic approach is to get married in Sri Lanka. My now, husband is also Sinhalese and I am Tamil and we are different religions as well... You will not be able to come as a visitor here, very unlikely you will get approved. As mentioned earlier, your best option is to have your wife come there and get married. I won't lie to you, the entire process is very difficult and would really help if your parents can support it...

First of all, congrats!!!! Thank you so much for posting the interview questions. It's very nice of you to post these questions to help those who have interview in pending. Very helpful :). I really hope that my husband gets the same officer :).

Hi SL_Chica,
If you don't mind, are you willing to share with us what was your husband's answer for this question: •How do you say your relationship is genuine?

It seems they ask this particular question to all the people who attend the answer and we are not sure how we should answer.

Hi SL_chica, did your husband received an email like this regarding his interview? Please bring your passport(s) and the following documents:
-documents pertaining to your application OR did they ask him to bring only his passport and 2 photos?

He was only asked to bring the passport and 2 photos taken according to new specs. No other.
And as for your previous question, I will ask him what answer he gave regarding the genuineness of the relationship. (He is sleeping now 3:00 am)

His answer was unique for our situation, will not be applicable for others:

He said that he is doing well in his income in Sri Lanka and do not need to leave all that behind to go to a foreign country, unless he truthfully married for love and want to be with me where I have spend most of my life, and it wasn't fair for him to ask me to move to SL for him.

He didn't make that up answered truthfully, he had his business registration and balance statements in case they asked to see them but they didn't.

Did they ask to see any of the documents related to your marriage or they didn't bother to ask for anything? Sorry to ask you way too many questions. My husband has an interview soon and we want to prepare as much as we can. so far your husband is the only one who had the interview this month :).

Ask me anything, I will answer to all I can :)

He wasn't asked to bring anything and he wasn't asked to show anything. He brought a few things like chat logs, wedding invitations, albums etc.; at the security he left all items except for what they asked him to bring Passport and the 2 photos. While he was in the interview, the rest of the staff enjoyed looking at our albums :D.
From what I can gather on the forum, our application is the oldest for Colombo office, we applied August 2015. Maybe that's why the rest is scheduled for next month or later. At the time of my husband's interview there were no other applicants waiting.
