Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

We have all been waiting for a year. I wonder when the waiting is going to stop. When one of us gets good news, it gives me hope. But when one of us doesn't, it makes me very very sad.

Rathika I hope you have a great lawyer. Fight for this as much as you can girl!! This is your life and you control it...

Hi everyone...i hope you guys get ur visas soon...i just posted my application last week and it was received on the 18th of November.

Its so sad to see how long u guys have been waiting...i am going to SL in 3 weeks, and we hope to apply for a visitor visa for my husband...if he is refused, i plan to stay in SL until he gets his visa...this whole waiting for PR seems such a painful process...i dont think i can go thru it without becoming a sycho...

I have to put my studies on hold, quit both my jobs here just to b with my husband...i wish they understood the hardships we have to face just because of immigration and visa.

I've been married only for two months, but im already sick and tired of ppl asking when he is coming and all the discouraging comments for no reason...and im sure my husband faces the same things too...i dont want him to go through that and i want to get away from all these canadian Srilankans' comments and questions about when my husband will b here

hey valli i understand the pain u going threw. and its understandable that u want to quit ur job and move their with him...but remember what happened to me they refused my application cause they said that i cant finacially not stable to support him once he gets here..so be4 u do anything think and get advice from people ...i wish u all the best and sucess with the visa journey.....

Ahh ladies!! It`s been one of those days for me. Today I had a total meltdown for the most part because we have been waiting all this time to start our lives and start a family and I feel helpless because the Colombo Visa office has not responded to us. I am curious to see what`s happening there.

According to the CIC website, the processing time is 11 months and we hit our 11 months in 6 days. So my husband sent them a message stating that since we have waited for this long, we would like a status update in the least. Still nothing from these people. It`s very very frustrating and it makes me furious. I was asking him today if those officers don`t have families and children. People that they care about but would never want to stay away from. But it didn`t matter. We know it doesnt.

Our only saving grace is that he`s here. But for how long is the next question. His visitor visa will be expiring soon and I don`t want him to leave so we are renewing it. I pray to god that they will grant it or even better just give us the PR. That would honestly be the best christmas gift in the world. His PR would be perfect!!! And I would trade everything we have to get it so that we can start working on a little family of our own.

I hope all of you are staying strong. It`s good to know that this thread has some very strong women whatever said and done that are willing to do anything for their loved ones.

Sharmi - be careful as per Rathika`s note. If they refused her on something so simple, it`s a warning sign for the rest of us.

Rathika - You know the fight is worth it, so stay strong!!!

Vaali - I hope your hubby gets the visitor visa. There is hope for sure. Look at us! My hubby got lucky. So I will pray that yours does too.

u guys are so lucky ... u just waiting for one year. I am waiting for almost 3 years. still i don't know when i m going to live together with my husband... I hate my life... i just spent 14 days only with my husband because of my exam... Then I cannot go and see him back because of my dad health

I hate my life... I like to die but god never help me for that even...

dont say that harisha killing ur self is not the solution...trust me i tried to kill myself by jumping a 6th floor balcony but it was not my time to go and im still here but by doing that i have damage lots of bones and lots of health issues..and in the other hand i waited 10 months to get a refusal from the embassy now i will be appealing i have a long road a head of me as well..but im not giving up i love my hubby and i know on of these days i will be with him happy..so dont put ur hopes down..i'll pray 4 u ...ur waiting is over dear u r almost their..hang on good luck

thanks rathika... I know killing is not solution. but i have nothing to do.. my mom passed away when i was small kid.. now my dad also not feeling well..

I didnot see my husband for 3 years.... its too hard for me.... anyways let see what happen in the future
