Hi all....
There seem to be some confusion about what is given back to you with your Visa at VFS. I received a few personal messages regarding this and have replied to them all, and figured I'd put this information here as well to benefit other.
What is on the passport? - A Visa to enter Canada that expires with your medical. For example if you medical expires April 30, 2017, you will have your visa expiring the same day. The Visa Issued date is the date your received the passport request.
How long does it take after submitting passport? 2-3 business days unless it is a busy season, can take up to two weeks. I highly recommend opting in to getting sms (text) updates from VFS for the status when you submit your passport.
What is VFS? It is an agent service that serves many countries for handling passports for visa. Visa (The sticker itself) is issued by the Visa office and will be added to your passport by the VISA office; VFS is the messenger between the passport holder and VO.
What is given back with the passport?Your passport. A paper that states "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" (CoPR). This is a white sheet of paper that has "NOT FOR TRAVEL" written across it. Also, some people have received their photos they've submitted for proof of relationship, this isn't always the case.
NOTE:If your final destination is Quebec, you will also get back your Quebec Selections Certificate.
Will I get the PR when I land? No, it will be mailed to you after 3 months.
Applying for SSN Immediately after you land, you are eligible for work, you can get your SSN immediately at a Canada Service Center
Hope this is helpful, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, I will do my best to help.
And wish everyone get their happy ending!
