Problem with being a co-sponsor of supervisa

I have an issue that I have not been able to get a clear answer on from IRCC. My husband and I co-sponsored his mother through the supervisa program some months ago. We co-sponsored it because my husband didn't have the income on his own to qualify to sponsor her alone. A couple of weeks after her application was approved, my husband told me he wanted a divorce and we are now separated and going through divorce proceedings.

I have called IRCC and told them that I do not want to sponsor the application any further as I don't want to be financially responsible for my husband's mother under the circumstances. They first told me that I don't need to be removed as a sponsor because the government would not hold me financially responsible for her even if/when she comes here (which I find hard to believe if I'm still listed as her sponsor) and later told me that they can't discuss her application with me because I'm not an authorized representative on her file.

Can anyone here provide more insight into this type of situation and what I can do to protect myself from being liable for her financial costs if my husband brings her here? Thanks.

You cannot withdraw a sponsorship once it's approved. You can only withdraw during the application period.

I don't know about supervisa but for PR, you can still withdraw before the person landed as PR. So if she hasn't activated her supervisa, may be you still have a chance?

Since only the sponsor can remove your as a co-sponsor, you may need to talk to your spouse.
