Quick question,

I've saw a lot of threads saying that the private college diploma cannot claim the Canadian education point through EE.
However, my agent told me there is no problem with claiming those points from private Canadian institutions because they have already done so many clients and got successfully approved for PR.

Is there any successful evidences on this forum?

Thanks

Pretty sure public/private only matters for getting PGWP. For just getting points for a Canadian education, you can claim points as long as the institution is accredited (and you fulfill the other requirements). I mean the requirements literally say "an accredited Canadian university, college, trade or technical school".

Just google for your college's name + "accreditation" and you'll find out.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I did check the accreditation of my school and it is accredited by the Ministry or Advanced Education BC. Does that mean my school is the private school operates under the same rule as the public institutions?

Public institutions in Canada are usually recognized via legislation rather than specific government bodies. Here's how Seneca College was founded, for instance:
https://www.senecacollege.ca/export/sites/www.senecac.on.ca/about/documents/History.pdf

Why concern yourself with minutiae? If your private college is recognized as a credential-granting institution by the province then you can use it to get points under Canadian education. There's nothing more to it. Your agent is right.

There's a lot of misleading or outright wrong information on here and other forums - so don't trust the advice and opinion of random strangers on the internet too much. Always do your own research.

When it comes to claiming education points for the Express Entry (EE) program in Canada, the eligibility criteria are based on the designated learning institutions (DLIs) recognized by the Canadian government. In most cases, public colleges and universities are recognized DLIs, and their diplomas and degrees are generally eligible for education points.

Private colleges or institutions, on the other hand, may or may not be recognized DLIs, depending on whether they meet the required criteria set by the Canadian government. It's important to check the official DLI list on the Canadian government's website to verify if a specific private college is eligible for education points.
this is the answer you should go with. What schools the province decides to accredite is different than the ones the IRCC will accept for PR. Use the information IRCC gives you to answer your questions. In this case its the DLIs

Hi, writing to update you everybody that studying from Private-Non-subsidized institution doesn't make you eligible to claim education points (15) under CEC Express Entry. These private college are just scam. I know because I've submitted my express entry profile for CEC on June 6, 2024 and IRCC didn't reward me education points.

I hope this will help someone for sure.
