Primary family Birth Certificates needed?

Hi All,

Going over the new application.

Under Supporting documents for sponsored persons
-1. Identity documents
"Birth certificates or baptismal certificates for yourself and all family members, whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not."

Does this seriously mean I need to get copies of my sister, mother, and father's birth certificates....

Right, and that's what I thought we'd need. (We're using my partners passport as his proof of identification since the new application says "Photocopies of one of these.")
and then sending in my, basically, everything since I'm being sponsored.

But the new application says that.. I might have to call again and see if that's really what they require..

"Family members" refers to dependents of the Principal Applicant. IRCC doesn't want documents for people not included in the app.

"Family members
An applicant’s closest relatives, in the context of an application. It is defined as a spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and their dependent children."

I went through this confusion too. But the above is the legal definition is from the IRPR (Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations). Additional family includes everyone in your immediate family, but Family members are only you and your spouse/common-law partner, and your dependent children, and their dependent children. For clarity on that what a dependent child is:

"dependent child, in respect of a parent, means a child who

(a) has one of the following relationships with the parent, namely,

(i) is the biological child of the parent, if the child has not been adopted by a person other than the spouse or common-law partner of the parent, or

(ii) is the adopted child of the parent; and

(b) is in one of the following situations of dependency, namely,

(i) is less than 19 years of age and is not a spouse or common-law partner, or

(ii) is 19 years of age or older and has depended substantially on the financial support of the parent since before the age of 19 and is unable to be financially self-supporting due to a physical or mental condition. (enfant à charge)"

is there any update on your application status.. have you been asked to submit any additional birth certificates other than applicant, sponsor and children(if applicable). Did you contact CIC regarding this question? if so any answer for that?

I submitted my application june 1 and then got the pre arrival email with eligible on dec 08 and ppr after a week. My husband sent his passport dec 15 and he got it back with his COPR dec 22 and it was a family class application

My application was returned to me because I hadn't submitted my mom, dad, and brothers birth certificates. I received my pack in the post at the weekend and now scrambling around trying to get my family to send me copies of their certificates immediately.

This is will add a delay of around 6-8 weeks on my application.

This actually just doesn't make sense. My thought would be that someone who started processing the forms screwed up and thought it was a different application type, or that there's something somewhere in one of your forms that would make them think you're trying to bring your mom, dad, and sibling(s). The wording between the old application kit and new application kit in regards to providing family member birth certificates isn't drastically different. I was just going over my own checklist and forms. Did you list your parents and brother(s) anywhere other than on the IMM 5406? You didn't list them as dependents on IMM 0008? Parents are also supposed to be mentioned on IMM 5669 but with the new application kit that would be uploaded after linking to MyCIC.

I received my application back stating their was missing documentation.

I sent the application by courier including mt passport, proof of employment, proof of status in canada but they returned the fors saying these documents were missing.

So you posted the above in a different thread.

Did you just feel like causing trouble in this thread by lying?
