Previous spousal/common-law sponsorships

If a Canadian citizen based in Canada wishes to sponsor their common-law partner (on work permit in Canada) for PR, but has sponsored a spouse/common-law partner twice before, is this likely to be a problem with immigration? The couple can show all proofs of genuineness of current relationship. However, am curious about whether officers look at previous sponsorships in same category.

Yes, IRCC will see the previous sponsorships in the system and will review these as part of the new application.

You can expect the new application to be assessed very closely to make sure the new relationship isn't a MOC.

This makes sense, thank you, and there are all available proofs for the current relationship because they live together and are clearly very committed. They are wondering about previous relationships and whether those will be examined in detail, primarily because of sudden breakdown of one sponsored relationship (more than 15 years ago).

Anything is possible. It is quite unusual for someone to be on their third sponsorship.

'They'...should not be expecting a quick process, but hopefully a successful one.

Agree with @scylla here; three two previous sponsorships (assuming they're all spouse or common law sponsorships) will certainly warrant a deeper dive on the part of the officer.

Two previous, not three!

Indeed, that's to be expected. Since one partner is on a work permit and can get into the EE pool in a few months, that's probably going to be about the same length of time and invite significantly less scrutiny from immigration. Thanks for your input.

If they have enough points to be selected, this may be the faster / better option.

Is that the current partner? When the last partner was sponsored? When did they separate and divorce?
