Yes one of the things my husband will present to them is the receipt (of fees paid) and also our almost finished application.

With my experience with both I too found the airports to be a lot more strict. However, despite of that thought, my husband and I thought they would understand our situation and let us through. So would you recommend land crossing instead?
Just from my and my husband's experience, yes. I think the people at airports are strict with the 9/11 thing. That's just my opinion, but travelling by land with my husband has been a breeze.

well. in case the land border were more strict than airport ones..
my husband visited me quite several times and airport authorities used to just 'how long you are going to stay, why you visiting?"
and once he crossed the land border they were more like "why you are going? what kind of family you are going to meet? when will you be back?"
so i am confused as well
and I think land crossing border is little strict because you are onto your land(usa) when you are talking to them about letting you to enter their land(canada) and airport is like you are already onto their land so will be difficult for them to send you back. its just what I think..I may be wrong.
I was making my mind in flying but have not made up my mind yet coz of this confusion

I believe that there is no right or wrong answer. Some flew some went by vehicle. I guess we all have to trust our guts. But this is soooo worrisome.

And @Simb, actually I was denied entry once when I flew and they made me pay for a flight back! For some, the airlines paid for them, but I was unfortunate. I too find all of this very confusing and I find myself feeling more anxious now. I thought flying or not, my husband and I would have done what we have researched for so long without a hitch, but now idk. :(

Well our original plan was for me to fly up on the 11th, so in less than 2 weeks from now. Now my husband and I might cancel our flights ... and use our flight credit for me to fly to Kalispell MT, which is a few hours from Carway (One of the border in Alberta, that we have passed through before) and have my husband cross the US border and pick me up and drive back up to Canada. We had a good success with driving up to Canada before, so maybe we might again. So from the looks of it, I might be attempting to cross in a week (the 7th). I will definitely keep you posted and everyone else. I do hope I get more answers, before I cancel our flights etc.
