Hi, I’m landing in Canada in July which is about 8 weeks from the start of my classes. I understand that I need to show quite a lot of cash so the officer will allow me to enter earlier. Im planning to take an International prepaid visa card with me which will have a lot of money in it as it is not really safe for me to be carrying that much cash. Is it okay for me to show him the balance of my prepaid card on my phone as my cash? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you

No You don’t need to carry cash but need to show proof of funds in bank account. Assume prepaid card will be accepted but you will not know until entry. Best is to show bank accounts with cash.

I have all the bank statements that I submitted for my study permit application as well. Would all these + the prepaid care be enuf?

If it shows you can live without working for two months then it is possible. CBSA do not want students coming in early so there is always a chance you will not be allowed entry. No one can tell you that you will be allowed in with 100% certainty.

Before you travel to Canada, make sure you are eligible to enter and that you have all the documents you need. To enter Canada as a student you must:

We encourage you to travel to Canada as early as possible after you receive your documents to avoid the busy travel period in late August, early September, and in early January.

This is on the CBSA website. Any thoughts on this?
