Pregnant wife with visitor visa allowed to enter Canada?

I am a Canadian citizen and married my wife in April this year. She is pregnant and we decided to defer her immigration application a little bit. I am just about to submit her immigration application. She took medical exam but deferred X-ray check to after the baby is born. We expect she can get immigration visa in spring next year and fly to Canada and we can reunite.

However, yesterday I learnt it takes 12-14 months for our baby to get citizenship certificate. Then my above plan doesn't work. Our baby will not get citizenship certificate and passpord until spring, 2011. I can't wait for so long.

Now I am wondering if my wife can apply for visitor visa and come to Canada then have the baby born here. I know I will have to pay the cost but I am ok this can prevent me from waiting 1 nmore year.

Now she is pregnant 29 weeks. I estimate it may take 2-4 weeks for me to send me the matierials of visitor visa application, the visor office to issue the visa, and my wife to get air ticket and fly to here. It's still before 36 weeks above which airlines usually do not allow board flights.

Now my concern is if my wife will be allowed to enter Canada, with visitor visa and obvious pregnancy?

If it's not possible for her to come with visitor visa, is there any legal way she can come faster?

Thanks a lot!

Ben

Yes, my wife needs visitor visa to enter Canada. Then it's worth trying to apply for visitor visa now. If the visitor visa is denied, we have no choice but have to wait for the baby's citizenship certificate. If she gets visa, we can reunite earlier.

Your answer clarifies that after she has got visitor visa, there will be no problem to enter Canada. THat's good. Thanks a lot.

try to arrange some hospitals and midwives appointments in Canada for your wife and show this proof in the visa office, it might help you to get visa granted.
have a good luck!

Hi Suin,

Thanks for the info.

I am preparing the docuemnts required for my wife's visitor visa application and I am wondering if I need to mention pregnancy in the invitation letter. I heard for visitor visa the visa officer must rule out immigration intention. So should I prepare documents as if my wife was nto pregnant? There are several Canadian visa centres in China and my wife does not have to apply visa in person. So if not mentioned in the invitation, maybe the officer do not know her pregnancy.

My wife did take medical exam (except X-ray check) 2 months ago and the clinic has sent the exam result to Canada Embassy in Beijing. I am not sure if the visa officer will look up all the information when processing the visitor visa application. The medical exam document should be easily found out.

So it seems it's better for me to explicitly speak out the fact of pregnancy, prepare document to show readiness of my side, and ask the visa officer's help to grant visitor visa so that my wife can come to Canada earlier. Is this the best way for me?

Thanks a million for the helps.

as soon as you apply for her visitor's visa they will get on on-line database and their will know everything about your application, also they can have a look at your actual application, so be truthful with them. I personally know one woman who was granted visa being pregnant and under the immigration process.
just try to think positive and never give up.
have a good luck!

it usually depends on the timeline of your visa office.
