Hi everyone i just want to share my story and ask for some advice. I am a canadian permanent reisdent living in montreal, quebec. I went back in the philippines to get married last year and i stayed for 6 mos. i returned last feb. Here in canada to apply for my husband. And the thing is, we just discovered that i am already 6weeks pregnant when i got here and i didnt know about that. I submitted all the requirements needed for spousal sponsorship last april 27,2014 and i included that i am pregnant. Right now, we are not receiving any reply from the immigration which makes me a bit worried because i am 19 weeks pregnant already. Do they consider it as a special case? It's my first pregnancy and our first baby so im worried that i might have our child here without my husband:( my baby is due on the last week of october and as i checked the processing times it's going to be til 14mos. I hope and pray that we'll receive a reply soon. What's the best thing to do? Thanks!

First. Congrats on having a baby.

Second, it will not help you speed up the processing however it will help give CIC more proof of genuineness of your relationship keeping the delay of the process to a minimum. Also keep in mind that your husband will still get conditional 2 year PR on account that CIC has received your application before the baby was born.

Had you submitted your application after the baby was born, your husband would not get 2 year conditional PR.

The pregnancy is not delaying your application. I am also pregnant, due in 1 month! Unfortunately my husband will not be here for the birth. The pregnancy I think will probably just confirm for them that your relationship is genuine. I don't have any proof that they are speeding up any pregnant applications but I think at the least it will avoid an interview. You don't need to do anything except if the baby is born before your husbands application is finished processing you need to send them a letter announcing the birth of the baby.

The baby will not negatively affect the application because the baby is Canadian, so he or she will not cause any processing delays or anything.

No, they will not treat your case any differently, and will be processed according to when your app was received.

Read here regarding time for stage 1:
Step 1: Assessment of Sponsor
52 days
Working on applications received on April 7, 2014

So if you submitted your app on April 27, then most likely CPC-Mississauga has not even opened it up yet. After another 3 weeks or so, then you can expect to get sponsor approval, and your husbands app will be forwarded to Manila for stage 2/applicant processing. The timeline for Manila processing, does not start until Manila actually receives the app.

It's my first pregnancy and our first baby so im worried that i might have our child here without my husband:( my baby is due on the last week of october and as i checked the processing times it's going to be til 14mos. Unfortunately, the most likely scenario here is his PR will not be approved until sometime in mid-2015.

Has he tried to apply for a TRV to visit Canada? If he can get one approved, that seems to me the only way he could travel here for the birth.

Thank you so much for the kind reply and for giving me another idea as an option. No, he hasnt applied for tvr. Would it be possible for him to apply for visitor when we have a pending spousal application? Thank you so much!

Yes - he can certainly apply. There is no guarantee he will be approved - but he can definitely apply.
