Hi,

First of all, Congratulations for the new baby and also for your MR. I believe your main concern here must be about getting the X-Rays. This particular topic has been discussed umpteen number of times here in this forum. You will find plenty of information here if you use the 'search' feature. I wish I could provide all the threads here.

But to sum it up, you have mainly two choices regarding your wife's X-Ray. I am not recommending any specific option as the choice is purely yours.

1) Either do it now with the help of a protective lead shield or 2) do the rest of the tests without X-Ray and wait for the delivery to do X-Ray.

It is a debatable topic, but also, it is a fact that a single exposure to X-Ray using protective shield will not harm the baby if it is done properly. Remember, although not a direct exposure, an X-Ray technician uses such a shield everyday and remains safe.It is always not recommended based on the growth stage of the baby as well as based on the quality of X-Ray service provider. Consult your nearest designated medical practitioner for the right advice as he/she will be able to assess the situation better. Always inform the radiologist about the pregnancy before you go for an X-Ray.

The second option is absolutely medically risk free and is entertained by visa offices too. However, your application will proceed further only once your wife's X-Ray reaches the visa office. Also, this means a new addition of family member. Hence, the passport / other documents applicable for the child will also have to be submitted to complete your application.

What ever decision you take, wishing you a wise, cheerful and healthy baby. Good luck.

Regarding your medical examination as a whole, please find a link below:

Hope it helps

I have done my Medical on 14th of Nov

My wife is 24 week pregnant....

IOM offer us 3 different options regarding my wife pregnancy

1. we can do X-rays with protective shield now
2. we can do all the tests apart from X-ray which can done after delivery or
3. last month of pregnancy (which is totally safe as they told us).

we have chosen 2nd option

they gave us a letter that i have to send CHC London and they kept photo copy of that letter and they will send that photo copy to India but they will not send my wife's other test reports (blood and urine) to CHC, they will keep those reports and will send altogether later with X-rays after the delivery.

hope it will clear you all the points at this stage

Hi,
I was in the same situation earlier this year....after waiting for 4 yrs they called me for medicals and iwas 8wks pregnant. My DMP dint even giv me the option to go for xray with shielding(i wasnt going to do anyhow).so me nd hubby had the exam.I dint had any xray taken at dat stage, and i was told to return after the baby is born.I went few days after the baby is born to hv the x ray.I got the PPR within 15 days after the same.So dont be worrying,u been waiting this long give another 8-9 months that will be it.Good Luck.

There is an additional form which CIC has started using since Oct 2012 specially for pregnant clients who had their X-Ray deferred during medicals - IMM5733E. I am not aware about the previous existence or versions of this form. You can find below the link for the same:

You declare you pregnancy then you PR will come after delivery. Pregnancy doesn't stop you from taking CHEST X-ray.
Pregnancy test not done routinely.
