Hi Everyone,

My country passport has no Surname, its just name. So in my old PR card, the put all my name under family name and blank in given names.

Now for renewal online I cant leave given names empty . Please advise what to do.

Thanks

I believe instructions should say that you can put XXX for given name (to indicate that there is no given name, this will not give you the XXX as a name.)

May we know what the country is? For all the people or just for specific group? How can you figure out who's who in this case?

Wife’s application is in the same boat. Her Indian passport does not have a Surname and we were advised to leave the Given Name field blank back in 2016 when we applied for PR. Now, the renewal application tool mandates both Family Name and Given Name. Not sure how to go about this.

If you look around, i believe you will find instructions that you can write XXX in the Given Name field, and this will be understood as meaning no given name (in fact is how some documents are issued by government). Write whatever name in the Family Name field.

Or more simply: she can hardly go wrong if she writes her name as shown in current PR card.

You can attach short letter of explanation that this is how you did things to remove any doubt.
