I have heard of applications being withdrawn at even a very late stage and they still allowed it.

By applying too early, you opened the door for them to investigate you based on you not meeting the RO. It doesn't matter if you met the RO later. They will still consider the 5 year period previous to your application date because those are the rules.

Now, if you let it go on, maybe they won't report you. Maybe they will eventually call you in for an interview and tell you that because you didn't meet the RO when you applied, they will not issue you a PR card or they might also invite you to withdraw your application. I have heard of such cases. However, they could report you if they wanted to because you opened the window by applying too early.

However, if you withdraw now, they generally shouldn't have a problem.

Dear Leon and Msafiri,

What a relief to hear that I have a good chance to withdraw my 2014 application.
What I understand is that I do not have to go through my immigration consultant for withdrawing my application... is that correct?
I will send a letter to the local office stating the following
•name;
•date of birth;
•address;
•The date the application was sent;
•client ID number;
•A copy of the electronic payment receipt or a copy of both sides of the payment receipt (Form IMM5401); and
•The reason for the withdrawal.

along with canceling my rep by including IMM5476.

The reason for the withdrawal shall be just "personal reason"?
I think I saw the similar thread somewhere and Leon suggested not to go into the details but to state withdrawing my application for personal reason. Did I get this right?

also, how would I know that my application got successfully cancelled?
I now am going to prepare my new application on a urgent basis... I am looking to book my flight at the beginning of Dec.
Should I wait till my withdrawal complete?

Thank you again for answering all my questions.
Now I see a bit of hope in the future:)

Yes, just say it's for personal reasons. You can withdraw your application for any reason you like.
