Hello Friends,

Hope all are safe and sound.

My PR is due for renewal in Jan'22, and my family PR is due for renewal in Feb' 23 (as I have sponsored them). We all already met the residency obligation and looking forward to apply for citizenship. I have below questions:

1. Should I first renew my PR and then apply for citizenship(for whole family) OR
2. Should I apply for citizenship(for whole family) and then apply for PR renewal OR
3. It doesn't really matter.

Also, is there any counter on PR renewal like PR can only be renewed 2 or 3 times only ?

Many Thanks

There is no counter. You can be a Permanent Resident all your life and keep renewing your PR card how many ever times you want.

PR cards are currently taking approx 4 months for renewal. If you apply now you should have it by time your current one expires, if you don't need to leave the country then there's no rush. I would apply for Citizenship sooner rather than later just because of how long it's taking
