Just to prove that the Call Centre has no accurate info, today I called to check on the status of my PR card and an agent told me you are still in process...I told him I got a FORMAL letter from the Local Office stating that a decision has been taken and my PR renewal has been approved, he said "DISREGARD this letter" :))

You are right, their information is extremely unreliable. I spoke to one of them yesterday. I wanted to know why it take some cases to process as little as within one year or less while for others it takes 35 months and more. The dude in the call center blatantly overruled the very possibility of a 12 months processing timeframe, stating that within his 7 years of work at CIC he never knew of a case that was processed within a year. I did not even bother going into trying to tell him that I personally knew people who had been processed within a year or less.

Citizenship: I have applied for my citizenship grant, on September-2012, and they started processing my application, on Feb-2013 and no wonder i have received an RQ on Apri-2013 before the citizenship test.
i have called CIC-call center today and the agent advised me your citizenship file is in mississauga office, and RQ file is at St.claire for a further review.

PR Renewal: i have a applied for my PR renewal on 9th September 2013, they have started processing my application on 27th October 2013, still no news or approval on my PR renewal application.
i have called the cic-agent today and they advise me your file is still under review, and your file is still at sydney, they are reviewing your file. it is been over a 3 months of my PR renewal, fraustrating, nothing is happening.

Is there any chances that they have sent me an RQ for Citizenship, do they send me an RQ for PR renewal.

Thanks for sharing your timeline am4u2ster. Your PR process sounds disappointing, sorry about that. I need to renew mine soon too :-( My friend renewed her PR recently, she got citizenship RQ in 2012. So, just letting you know she did not get RQ for renewing her PR and she got it renewed successfully (there was a small delay though because of their home address change). Do you mind me asking why you decided to renew your PR card, are you planning to travel or you live outside right now?

Sorry, did you take the test in April after you received the RQ at the interview? Good luck with the oath! hope you get it soon.

yeah time line for PR renewal is so disappointing, it is been over 3 months and i don't they are reviewing it, i am living in canada, working since last years full time job, i been out of country for only 120 days, i made a 2 trips one for 3 months and another for 1 month.
you got me wrong i have recieved my citizenship RQ, before the test my citizenship citizenship test is still due,
i don't know what they are doing with my both Citizenship and PR renewal application.

Sorry, I thought you took your test. You did not have to renew your PR unless you want to travel abroad. I do no think you should be worried about it for now, the main thing is your citizenship application. But I understand how frustrating it must be for you. Good luck!

Hi all, Anyone has any idea if PR renewal, when approved after RQ and an Interview, can help expedite a citizenship application that has been submitted more than two yrs ago?! Please share if you have a similar experience. Thanks!
I renewed PR while waiting for citizenship....got approved for PR but everything is the same for citizenship...no news.

That's been my experience as well. I applied for my PR card renewal a few months before sending in my citizenship application. Took only 7 weeks and the new card was in the mail. I doubt they consider 'other successfully processed recent or parallel immigration applications' during the CIT process.

I agree with you.
I have phoned the CIC-agent there is big contradict between my two phone calls.
1. agent advised me your card is at processing center, one we received your card we wiill send you a mail stating that you will received your card, i asked him ecas is still indicating your file is still under process and no decision has been made so far, and he advise me some time we do not udpdate the status untill your file is not fully processed.
2Nd call. just afeter two days, and lady agent advise me your file is till at sydeney-ns and still under review, once the decision has been made on your file we will notify you, still they did not transfer my file to local office. so how the hell when i call the agent first time and he told me your card has been sent to processing center
