I am a Canadian citizen and my wife has applied for permanent residency. We have our final appointment next month, and, although it seems pretty straightforward, I have some questions for the letter of employment/statement of income.
So my wife received her work permit last August, and she's taken on some cleaning jobs since that time. One is with a church (where we have signed a contract with the church and receive steady pay) and the other two are individual families where the schedule and income varies depending on hours worked. We are paid in cash and then claim the income during tax season. Now, with the cleaning, our income is under the limit for being required to register as a business. What's the best way to go about this? Should we be getting letters from the people she cleans for, or should we prepare an income statement? The letter does say that the income statement must be prepared by a bookkeeper or accountant, and my brother is the one who does the taxes for the whole family. Would it be good enough for him to put together an income statement for us?
Thank you for your help! We have one last hurdle to clear and then we're there!
