My Journey to PR - A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness

I finally received my eCoPR on March 18, 2025!

Here’s my timeline:

  • AOR Date: August 27, 2024
  • Final Decision (Tracker): December 20, 2024
  • Portal 1: December 22, 2024
  • Portal 2: December 24, 2024
  • eCoPR: March 19, 2025
To everyone still waiting trust in the Lord, pray, and hold onto His promises. What He has said concerning you will surely come to pass.
I won’t lie, this journey was tough. I lost my job on December 9, 2024, because my work permit extension was rejected, and I had to stop working. It was a painful moment, but looking back, I can see how God’s favor carried me through.
I came to Canada for a one-year program and graduated in April 2023. By God’s grace, even before finishing, I had a full-time tech job lined up, which I started on May 19, 2023. That job gave me the crucial one-year Canadian experience I needed.
  • My Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) was issued on July 7, 2023, but was only valid until July 8, 2024.
  • To buy more time for my CEC Express Entry application, I applied for a work permit extension on July 5, 2024.
  • Meanwhile, I received an OINP nomination on May 22, 2024, but its processing time was 15 months—longer than my valid status. So, I had to stick with the Express Entry plan.

My work permit extension was rejected on December 9, 2024, but that initial extension application bought me months of working under implied/maintained status. Unfortunately, once I lost my job, anxiety kicked in,I had so many bills: credit cards, car loans, insurance, rent, food, etc, but I refused to give in to fear or depression. Instead, I kept praying and trusting God for a breakthrough.

January was extremely tough, but God saw me through. If you’ve ever been in this situation, you know how hard it is.

After my extension was rejected, I was advised to apply for a restoration of status as a worker. I immediately submitted it the same day and also applied for a bridging open work permit (BOWP) since I had already received my ITA. Using a web form, I uploaded my restoration application, fees, letter of explanation, and AOR letter.

Fast forward to March 15, 2025, when my work permit was approved! When I called IRCC, the agent told me that because I had submitted my bridging work permit before IRCC’s operating hours ended on December 9, I was still under-maintained status without even realizing it! As a result, my restoration fees were refunded, and my application fee was approved.

Three days later, on March 19, 2025, I received my eCoPR!

God is the Greatest! He works in mysterious ways.

No matter how tough things get, don’t give in to fear or depression. Trust in God, pray, and hold onto His promises. He will make a way for you just as He did for me.

Amen.
Truly,
Don Diipo

My understanding is that everything that was submitted for CEC points was accepted, and you met the minimum requirements for the program you entered under. Now they are doing the criminal / security background check.

So you are an important step closer. This is not the final stage: the officer can still do a final review and ask for more information if they have a doubt.

I hope your understanding is correct!!
Thanks for the answer , I assume that i should trust the tracker if it says that eligibility is completed .

Hi all! I am a longtime lurker, but posting for the first time. I have to travel to the US in April 2nd week and I am wondering if anyone here may have any insight into whether this seems like a possibility for me given my timeline...

Stream: FSW (inland aplicant)
AOR: August 27th, 2024
P1: Jan 28th, 2025 (info submitted the same day)
P2: March 13th, 2025 (info submitted the same day)
Now waiting for further action...

Should I keep any hopes that I will see my eCopr anytime soon, since I cannot leave Canada now without that? :( I am very worried because I have paid so much for my US trip that was planned in 2024...

Given current trends, a March 13 P2 would probably not be issued an eCOPR until May/June (around 90 days later). But maybe this will be faster for you, since some people have got eCOPR faster than that (I got mine yesterday 10 weeks after P2) and some people mentioned much shorter times: they seem to be clearing some of the backlog. Also, your AOR is more than 6 months old, so maybe you will be priority.

Note: if you are out of Canada when your eCOPR is issued, or if got the eCOPR before you leave but you haven't received your PR card, you will not be able to re-enter Canada via a commercial means of transport (plane, train, bus). Only via a private vehicle. Which means that the return part of your travel cost would end up being wasted. Maybe you could get a refund, or re-use it for a future trip.

Should I keep any hopes that I will see my eCopr anytime soon, since I cannot leave Canada now without that? :( I am very worried because I have paid so much for my US trip that was planned in 2024...
You can travel: you can send a message to the P1 email address, informing them that you will be traveling outside of Canada, and tell them your intended return date. They will pause your file.

Then you send an email when you return, confirming that you are back in Canada. They will then re-start processing your eCOPR. Some other members of this forum has posted about their experience doing this: it seems to work fine. I didn't do this personally.
