hi,
i landed june 30,no card so far.

So worst case, if they misplace the card, what is the rule on getting a travel document to re-enter Canada? Since I don't plan on returning until early 2015, would waiting until 2015 to get a travel document be a sensible option? They are obliged to give you atravel document as long as you have more than 2 years in your first 5 years correct? Also what is the rule for entering through a land border with the US like Windsor? I know one could use the COPR document, but could one possibly drive a rented car/take a bus into Canada from Detroit?

yes,u can apply for a return travel document(visa) when u need to travel.

I've got impression that as soon as you cross boarder by land on your own, the copr form is enough. In fact ,PR card is needed (if travel by air) more in order to satisfy airlines representatives( to let you board). Technically you would need PR card even for commercial bus, but i don't think they care too much(as airlines),Other option is to use bus on both sides, but cross boarder on foot.
I am not sure with situation of rented car. How u plan to rent it, where to return, and if u plan to declare it and how, and what renting agency will think of all this. But i've heard people doing it.

Thanks for your prompt reply dream. I have an acquaintance who was supposed to mail the card to me. This is starting to look like a lost cause now. I think I will wait until the end of the month, and probably talk to a good Canada immigration attorney early next month. Would you please keep us posted about the status of your card.

So I tried calling CIC today from my cell phone. I reach the mainline, but when I choose option 2, the automated system tells me that the toll free service is unavailable from my location!

Just saw a post somewhere , where someone that landed mid July got their PR card. This is starting to worry me now!

Hi,

Is it ok to send the PR card application, and then leave canada? I will be giving my brothers address in toronto as the return address. DO they generally call to check if you are still in canada? I have to go back in 2 weeks due to some emergency back home.

Anyone received PR card recently who landed last week of June?
