How do you view your status of getting a PR Card?

If you are waiting on your first card as a new PR, there is no way to view the status. You have to estimate by the posted processing time, currently around 2 months.

Sometimes, as I discovered, you can see your PR card application in ECAS, even if it's your first "landing" card. It showed up on the same page as my PR application process. It's unusual, but it can happen.

Hmmm, never knew that. Lucky you to have been able to see it.

I notice that processing time for new permanent residents now showing only 43 days. We did our landing on 20th March,2014 and therefore almost 100 days have passed PR NOT yet rreceived on the given mailing address. Have called them to hear " cards have not been mailed".

I have moved out from Canada and now want to go back but can't enter Canada without PR Card ?

Same here, it says 43 days for pr card, and its been 9 weeks since I landed. Im filling out the Solemn declaration form to let them know I have not received it.

I landed on 21 January 2014 and my PR Card didn't arrive until 15 May 2014. Almost 4 months. Gave me a lot of headaches. So always be skeptical of the processing times provided by government websites. CIC is inefficient!

what if u have yet to receive pr card but you need to travel overseas?

From your previous posts, you are from Singapore. You are visa-exempt and can travel back to Canada on the strength of your passport alone as if you were a visitor.

would i run into trouble without the pr card even though i have the visa exempt passport

Not trouble as such, as long as you have your COPR with you.
Where you may have problems is obtaining a one-way ticket to Canada. Some airlines are very unhappy selling a non-return ticket to someone that is claiming to be just a visitor. Do NOT tell the airline that you are a PR or they will probably refuse to board you unless you can show your PR card. The airline will almost certainly ignore that fact that you have a COPR.

You will have no issues with CBSA. You don't even need your COPR, as the officer will be able to see your PR details just from swiping your passport.

As said above, the airline may have an issue with you travelling on a one-way ticket as a visitor. Easiest way around that is to buy a separate fully refundable ticket out of Canada just in case the airline asks (they probably won't).

We landed march 27 2014 and about 2 weeks ago we received a notice in the mail from cic to submit new photos for the card.. is that common? And how long should we expect it to come in the mail?? Its been 95 days!

If you have been requested for new photos, it will take it out of the "standard" processing and into a possibly much longer processing sequence. I'm sorry but you will probably just have to be very patient. It could still be some time...

Hello All:

We landed as a family in April 2014. My wife and eldest son received their PR Cards in the fourth week of June. But no news for me, and our two younger children. Call Centre now says that they are on verification. I do not understand what is being verified after we have landed. Surely full investigations must have been done prior to issuing the landing papers!

Also while my 19 year old son has been given the PR Card, are they investigating my 10 year old daughter! For what? I have been very careful in all our disclosures and have not mis-stated anything. I was under the impression that PR Card is just a process (like SIN) after Landing... Apparently not?

Can anyone please let me know what does "Verification"entail and how long is it supposed to take beyond the normal time? We had left Canada to wrap up, ship our goods, and let our children finish schooll sessions. Now I am worried that they will be late for the school session in Canada as they have already quit school (we finished our residency in UAE).

Is there any contact available for people outside Canada? :(
