I don't know if this might be of help to you, but today I called the CIC to check if my application for the PR card renewal (regular process) was already in progress (I sent it on June 19). The agent told me that if I sent it last June they wouldn't open the envelope for at least the next two months. I understood two months from today, August 6. It seems it's taking a long time so if I were you, I would apply urgent proven that you got already proof a your trip.
