Your card seems to be selected to be picked up in person. Call them and know for sure. If yes, you will need to wait until the local office contact you.

thank you, should I call 1-888-242-2100? Usually they don’t respond to calls

Hi @legalfalcon,
May I get your advice on something when you have a moment?
I applied for PR last year under Express Entry Federal Skilled Workers from outside Canada. It was still in progress when I moved to Canada on a Work Permit last month. I have since received the Passport Request for my PR application and have submitted it. My concern is that the processing time for a new PR card is over 4 months currently but I have to travel to India in December to see family. In case I don't receive the PR card before I leave, what are my options to return to Canada? Is it possible to use my Work Permit to come back or will my only option be to apply for the PR travel document?

If it's the latter, as far as I can tell, I don't meet the Residency Obligation to apply for the PRTD.

Thanks in advance!

Please ask in the CEC section of the forum. I believe PR RO is not applicable to you at the moment. You are not yet a PR until you receive your eCOPR.
Since I'll be traveling in two months, I should receive the COPR with my passport before I travel. Do you still think the CEC section is more applicable for this question?

I will try to answer your question, purely speculative.

In the case you do receive your COPR but not your PR card in the next two months, you can go ahead and apply PRTD. The RO rule won't affect you, because you just became a PR, and RO will be basically irrelevant in this case - PRTD is just for you to get back to the country without a PR card as a new PR. RO rule will be interpreted very differently compared to a new immigrant and an immigrant who has been granted PR for 5 years or so.

Don't worry, if what I said will apply to you, I am fairly confident you can get your PRTD and come back. Purely speculative - but my friend had the same situation years ago, and was granted PRTD with no issue.

Just to quickly follow-up. You CANNOT use your work permit to come back. The moment your PR status is confirmed - your temporary resident/work permit/study permit will automatically become nullified. Since your status changed. But as my previous post said - apply for a PRTD when you get to India.

Safe travels and congratulations on becoming a new PR!

They respond but you have to wait. Call first thing in the morning. Call the call center number announced in their site.

If you are a new PR, you do not have to meet any residency obligation since it has not yet been 5 years since you became a PR. The resident obligation is only for those individuals have who have been a PR for 5 years or more and they have to demonstrate that they meet the physical residency requirement.

If you do not have a PR card, you will need a PRTD to return to Canada.

Hello
Has anybody heard about someone being asked to pick up his renewed PR card personally during COVID pandemic? Do they generally do it randomly or it has some rules? Do they still do it in the current pandemic condition?

Hi Guys,

Happy to see the movements in cases.

I was just wondering whose cases are taking time? like from changing the status from in process to decision made, case of people who travelled outside more often are taking time or its just random.

I sent messages to some members but they did not answer yet.

Lets share here if someones status change takes time like more than 2 weeks from in process to decision made.
